He sighed. “Alright. You want to meet up during the weekend?” He asked the way he did every time dad asked him to call me.

“What can I do for you to never ask me this again?” I asked and he chuckled.

“Just go with me, bro.”

“No, and don’t ever call me again, even if he tells you to. You’re old enough to stop listening to yourdaddy.” I sneered and hung up.

I would have felt bad if I was talking like that to the old Raphael, the one who I was proud to call my brother. Not this new Raphael that I didn’t know.

Back then, Raphael and I got scolded together. We were like twins because we were closer than the original twins –Rick and Sam. But not now. Right now I didn’t know my family and they didn’t know me either.

The only thing joining us was the last name, which I had thought of changing so many times. My therapist was the one who talked me out of it. She said if Jordan ever wanted to find me in the future, she wouldn’t be able to if I changed my name.

If my dad ever found out that I went to therapy, he would kill my therapist. I just knew he would because he would be so scared and insecure that the therapist would tell on us and we would be prosecuted. I wished though. I wished she told the cops so I could suffer for doing that to my best friend.

I sat down and opened my laptop to work when a message entered my phone. I groaned. Couldn’t they all just leave me? I looked at it to see that it was a message from John.

I rolled my eyes. Didn’t I speak with him like ten minutes ago?

John

Jordan Vincenzo is going to be at Fords Hall on Friday. I’ll send her pictures to your email now.

Excuse me? I just rejected a free invitation to see her. I ran my hand through my hair with a groan.

I hit the wall several times before picking up my phone. I twisted my mouth frustratingly as the simple thought of calling Raphael sickened me. I played with the call icon on his contact before clicking on it.

“He—llo?” He sounded so unsure and I closed my eyes, trying to find the right words.

“Did you call dad already?” I asked abruptly.

“No, I was just about to call him before you called. Why?”

“Good. I’ll go.”

“Why?” He repeated the question and I could feel him raising his eyebrow. I couldn’t tell him the reason, he’d tell dad and they’d hunt her down. But I couldn’t let him be suspicious either.

“I thought your dad wanted me to represent him.”

“He’syourdad too, Jayden.” It was working, the plan to divert his mind into thinking it was nothing special.

“I’ll go and don’t ever call me after this.”

“It’s okay if you don’t want to. I’ll call him and tell him…”

“I thought I just fucking told you that I’ll fucking go,” I interrupted in anger.

“Well I fucking heard. You’re scared of him, aren’t you?” He teased me and I snickered.

“Yes, I’m so scared,” I replied dryly and prayed he felt the sarcasm.

“Okay, I’ll tell him you agreed to go.” I released the breath I didn’t even realize I was holding.

“Good.” I hung up.

I inhaled and exhaled before going to my laptop to check my email for Jordan’s pictures.

What did she look like now?
