“I mean she is.”

“Don’t say that, you asshole.” My dad snapped and we all laughed. Our dads liked to argue over silly things, and sometimes, I wondered which duo was worse –Raphael and Jayden or my dad and Jayden’s dad.

“Sorry Uncle Chris, but you’ll have to get used to this, because she’s mine now.” Jayden said to my dad, who scowled in response.

“You don’t tell a father that his daughter belongs to you, do you have a death wish?” My dad threatened Jayden and Uncle Cedric widened his eyes.

“That’s my son, Chris.”

“And that’s my daughter.”

There they went again, arguing over silly things. I was Jayden’s and I had no complaints. In fact I always loved his possessive side. It was hot and at the same time cute.

“We’re leaving dad, bye.” I waved at them and they all waved back. My mom gave me a small smirk and I knew we would have a discussion when I returned from whatever surprise Jayden planned for our fifth year anniversary.

We entered the car and as soon as I slammed the door shut and sat comfortably, Jayden slammed his lips to mine, pulling away a few minutes later. “I told you they’d be happy about it.”

I nodded, a wide beam on my face as I admired his own happy face. He looked like a child who finally got the ice pop his mother promised him after doing his homework. “I was already getting so scared when they weren’t smiling.”

“They were probably just teasing us. God, I’m so happy Flower, I’m so happy. Do you know what this means? It means we’ll be with each other for life.”

“Me too. Now we don’t have to hide anymore.”

“We never had to, it was you who was scared.”

He was right. He had always wanted our family to know about our relationship since the day I said yes, but I imagined them saying ‘no,’ which meant I lost a lover and a best friend. My mental health wouldn’t handle that well.

“But now I’m not,” I assured him and he nodded at me.

He turned his attention forward, as he ignited the engine of his car, ready to drive us to celebrate our anniversary. I heard a deep sigh from him and immediately directed my attention to him. “Jay, are you okay?”

He called me and I furrowed my brows in worry. What suddenly happened?

“Hm?” I answered as carefully as I could.

“What if this is all a dream? What if I’m just dreaming after sleeping that night I practiced confessing to you?” I exhaled in relief and smiled at his adorable pouts. I could understand him though. I had thought that too, I had thought it was too good to be real.

“Do you mean we’ve spent five years dreaming? That’s wild.” He chuckled in response and ran his fingers through his hair.

“Well maybe it’s wild, but seriously what if it is? What if we’re just thinking about it?”

“Then it will happen eventually, whoever is dreaming this will make this come true, should we agree on that?”

“Yes.” We joined our pinky fingers together and he said, “I hope it’s my dream, I’ll do anything to make it come true.”

“I know you will, I will too,” I replied and his bright grin returned to his face. He finally set his gaze to the road and pressed on the accelerator.

I watched as his lips turned to give a full smile every now and then, and I wondered what went on in his mind.

He made me happy, just his presence alone satisfied me. Sometimes I thought he was a reward for something good I did in my past life, or something good I was doing in another world.

The universe couldn’t be so messed up to make this a dream. But if it was, then I never wanted to wake up.

Ijolted up with a loud gasp. What dream was that?
