I rolled my eyes. “I’m the one they are searching for, why are you the one nervous?”

“Can you just come home and open the door?” Home.

“I don’t feel good about you waiting in my house, but I’m coming.”

“Thank you, baby, I love you.” He hung up as though he wasn’t waiting for my response.

I drove to my house, still weighing what Daniel could possibly have to say to his dad.

That he met me? That he recognized me? New information about Alex?

Jayden was sitting on the floor outside my door when I got out of the elevator. He stood up immediately when he saw me and smiled sweetly as always.

His smiles made me nauseous. They were too bright and always full of zero worries.

“How did you get my number?”

“Will you at least open the door first?”

I gave him a dry smile, rolled my eyes and opened the door.

Immediately we got in, I pinned him to the wall and gently pressed a knife to his throat.

He gasped in pure shock and terror as his eyes widened. “Do you walk around with knives?” He asked in a shaky voice and I shrugged.

“Now answer my question, how did you get my number?”

“Umm…” he drawled and shrugged. “I just found it.”

“You mean you were walking on the street and you happened tojustfind my number on the floor?” He nodded at my sarcastic assumption and I snorted. “Did John get my number for you?”

“Oh you remember his name, he would be so happy to hear that. He sent his greetings by the way.” He rambled on with a smile on his face and I creased my eyebrows. I was Alex, everyone feared Alex.

Except this man and my two little creatures named Ariana and Kendal.

“You listen to me…” I started again, but he interrupted me.

“No, you listen to me for once. My dad called and said there’s a meeting and I don’t want to miss any part, especially the important one. I also don’t want Raphael to have to call me before I get there.”

“Do you hate him that much?”

“I mean he…”

“Just kidding, I actually don't care,” I interrupted him and he glared at me. I dropped my knife and he rubbed his neck, sighing in relief.

“You are so mean, I hate you.”

“Trust me, the feeling is mutual.”

“By the way…” he slumped on the couch. “You pinning me to the wall was hot as fuck.”

I huffed. “You think that was hot? Wait until I drive my knife into your pretty chest.”

“You always turn everything I say into… hey, you think my chest is pretty?” I shook my head at him.

“You are still so unserious, always playing around and ignoring the important things. I bet you got detentions in college too. Wait, do they give detention in college?” He had a smile on his face as I rambled on, so I stopped to glare at him. “What?” I snapped and he shook his head.

“Nothing, I just like it when you scold me. I’ve always liked it. Remember? Your bad boy.” He winked at me and my lips fought with me for a smile.
