"You wanna take him over?" Trevor asks me.

"Sure."

I step out from behind the counter and take Branum by the hand. "Your palm is sweaty," I whisper.

"Can you blame me?" he says back quietly.

"You'll be fine. The kids will love you."

"Sure hope so."

I give his clammy hand a squeeze as we approach the reading room. "You're going to be great."

"Thanks, baby." He looks down at me and smiles. "I love you."

"Love you, too. Now get in there before they turn feral."

"Yes, sir."

I follow him in, finding a spot in the back as Branum claps his hands together at the front of the room. "Hi, everyone! Who's ready for a story?"

A bunch of hands fly into the air.

"Me!"

"Me!"

"I ammmm!"

Branum smiles, and it lights up the whole room. "Good. I hope you like the book I've picked for you."

He sits his massive frame on a beanbag and begins reading. He takes his time, and I can hear the nervousness in his voice in the first few lines. After a few pages, he relaxes, and I smile. He's a natural at this.

My mind drifts, and I wonder whether one day Branum will be reading toourchildren.

How did I ever get so lucky?

I know that romances have to have a happily ever after, but this is something else.

Heis something else.

It's rare to find a person who loves every part of you, even the bits that maybe you're not so keen on yourself.

Branum is that person for me. He sees everything—my unconventional appearance, my OCD, my geeky hobbies—and none of it makes him think twice about loving me with all his heart.

Just like I love him with all of mine.

I can't believe I get to spend the rest of my life with this incredible mountain man. This truly is the best happily ever after…ever!
