His fingers slid down and he gripped her clit and she moaned.

“Oh, yes,” she cried. “Yes, keep doing that.”

With one hand, he tweaked her little button while the other hand held onto her and kept her from getting away from him.

“Oh,” she cried. “I’m going to come.”

Thank goodness. While he enjoyed every moment of being inside her, he was terrified of hurting her.

With one final easy shove, he held her hips against him as he felt himself come inside her.

They hadn’t even thought about a condom because there wasn’t a need.

Her body shuddered with release and then she laid her head on her arms.

With a sigh, he lay on the bed and then helped her onto her side. They lay with his arms around her, snuggling her against him.

How could he live without her? How could he let her go? And he knew he couldn’t. He would do everything he could to make her his permanently.

“Are you all right?”

“Yes,” she gasped. “Thank you. That was wonderful. Why is it so good between us?”

A chuckle came from him. “I don’t know, but it is.”

“Yes,” she said. “We can’t do that again until after I have the baby.”

“No,” he agreed, worried that they shouldn’t have done it then.

“What are we going to do?” he asked. “What are your plans?”

He felt her tense, and while he’d been wanting to ask this question since last night, he’d been afraid.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I have no job. My severance money is going to soon run out. My insurance will expire not long after I have this child. There is just so much up in the air and I’m so emotional right now. I just don’t want to make any big life decisions until I feel more certain.”

As much as he didn’t like her response, he could understand. She was in a difficult place. But he wanted to spend forever with her and their child.

He had no doubts. He wanted to ask her to marry him.

“I want to go home. I want to see my family,” she started to cry and he felt terrible for causing her stress.

“Shhh, it’s going to be all right. You can stay here as long as you need. You could have the baby here in Missoula.”

He didn’t want her traveling to Whitefish. Weather had taken one child from him and he’d be damned if it was going to take another.

“No,” she said. “If it stops snowing, I’m going on to Whitefish. I want my mother there when I have this child. I want my family.”

“What about me?”

“Of course,” she said. “But only if you go to Whitefish with me.”

He needed to tell her, but not when she was upset. And he wasn’t ready to commit to traveling up the road two hours. Not when she was in the final stages of pregnancy. It wasn’t worth the risk.

Somehow he had to convince her that they should stay here. Maybe his own mother could fill in for hers.

“I’m just worried the weather is not going to let us get to Whitefish,” he finally said. “You and the baby’s safety are my top priority. I fear getting stuck on the highway and you going into labor.”

Once again, she started to cry.
