"Very well then, sweetheart," she said tenderly. "Just remember that your family will always be here for you."

I smiled. "Thank you, Mom. I’ve always known that, and I love you."

"I love you too, Jill," she responded, excitedly adding more news. "Oh! Before I forget, your cousin Courtney is getting married!"

Surprise widened my eyes at this unexpected news. Courtney was my favorite cousin. "Wow, Mom! That is incredible! Marky finally asked her?"

"Yes!" Mom squealed with enthusiasm. "He got a job with some biofuel company, and they’re sending him to work in Germany for two years. He asked Courtney to marry him and come along! They have to hurry up and throw a wedding together. He has to leave the country in two months!"

"That is amazing!" I responded, genuinely delighted for Courtney. "Such a short engagement, though! I bet she’s a nervous wreck getting it planned!"

"Yes," my mother said. "But you know Aunt Martha. She’ll have a magazine-worthy ceremony whipped up in no time!"

I nodded, taking in this exciting news. "Well, I am genuinely thrilled for Courtney. She deserves all of this!"

"I thought you would be excited for her!" my mother remarked. "And speaking of Courtney's wedding- I was wondering if you could come home to attend it?"

"Of course, Mom!” I said. “I wouldn’t miss that woman’s wedding for the world!"

"That is wonderful to hear, sweetheart," she said delightfully. "Speaking of romance and weddings, you know your mother has to be nosy. Is there anyone in your life?"

I smiled warmly as I directed my eyes out the office door toward Jeremy’s. “Actually,” I said, “There is. He’s great, Mom. It’s just started to get serious, so it’s still pretty new, but I think he might be the one.”

"That’s wonderful!” Mom said. “What’s his name?”

I giggled. “Jeremy,” I said, waiting for the name to sink in.

Mom fell silent as the realization that I was speaking of Jeremy Matos suddenly washed over her.

“Oh, honey! Twyla said he was named one of New York City’s Most Eligible Bachelors! Oh, I have to say he is easy on the eyes,” she said with an excited squeal. “Bring that man with you!”

"I’ll talk it over with him,” I said. “It’s a really good idea, but he’s always busy. I’ll have to make sure it falls into place with his plans, but I would be thrilled for him to meet all of you.”

"Of course, Jill! That is marvelous! I can’t wait to meet him, but there are always other chances if this trip doesn’t work. Let me know if there is anything we can do to help."

After saying goodbye to my mother, I felt a rush of excitement. The idea of attending Courtney's wedding with Jeremy filled me with joy, and I couldn’t wait to approach Jeremy with the idea.

I approached Jeremy's office, lightly knocking on his partially open door. He looked up from his desk with a warm smile. "Hey there, beautiful,” he said. “What's going on?"

"Jeremy, I have some good news," I said, dancing happily toward his desk, unable to contain my enthusiasm.

His eyebrows lifted in curiosity as he chuckled. "What is it?"

Inhaling deeply, my excitement bubbled over. I opened my mouth, spilling out everything at once. "My cousin Courtney is getting married, and the wedding will be really soon, like within a couple of months. She, of course, wants me to be there, and I was wondering if you would like to accompany me."

Jeremy's smile widened even further. "Really? That sounds great, of course! I would love to go with you!"

I felt my heart overflow with happiness. I never imagined how eager I would be to introduce Jeremy to my family, yet the anticipation consumed me now that the opportunity presented itself. "Thank you!” I squealed. “I cannot wait for you to meet everyone!"

Rising from his desk, he walked over to me and hugged me tightly. "I am looking forward to it as well, baby. It will be a fun! Just let me know the dates when you find out, and we’ll get things organized here."

As we held each other tightly, every fiber of my being thanked the universe for this new chapter unfolding in my life. It promised love, happiness, and the potential to build an amazing future with Jeremy by my side.
