“I didn’t do much to it. Just broke in and turned on the interior lights to kill her battery.”

His voice is tight with rage. “I told you I needed it disabled permanently.”

More noise blares from his end of the line, some asshole laying on his horn when I answer, “Priest is taking care of the rest—”

The line goes dead.

“Fucking dick hung up on me,” I mutter while tossing the phone down on the bedside table.

For as much crap as I do to help these guys, you’d think they’d show me a little more appreciation.

“Problem?”

Glancing down at the blonde who should not be in my bed at the moment, I rub at the back of my neck and decide to be honest.

“Yeah.”

She grins and shifts to press her naked body to the side of mine.

“Maybe I can make it better.”

They make it so easy when they offer.

“Actually, you can.”

Tilting my head to the door, I make my best suggestion.

“Getting dressed and getting out would be insanely helpful.”

Surprise flickers in her eyes, the shape of them rounding as she pushes herself up on an elbow.

“But I thought we could—”

“This was a one-time deal. ”

“But I ... we...”

Her gaze narrows on my face, understanding finally sinking in.

“I broke off my engagement, jackass. What the fuck do you mean this was a one-time thing?”

Shrugging a shoulder, I refuse to react to the anger rolling off her.

If this were any other chick, I might feel bad. But it’s Hillary, a woman who was complicit in the attempt to fuck things up for Emily and the twins.

Ten years may have passed, but the sin still hadn’t been punished.

Until now.

“I was drunk. You were available. But that’s done, and I’m sober again, so...”

Another tilt of my head toward the door.

Rage paints her cheeks a healthy red.

“You son of a bitch!”

My mother actually is a bitch, so I shrug again and accept the insult.
