The pen swings his direction. “Scott is going to show up at an address we feed him. You are going to put a tracker on his car while he searches that address. After that, I’ll need photographs of the people getting in and out of that car while he’s playing chauffeur for the governor.”

Taking a deep breath, Tanner glances around the table. “I think that covers everybody.”

Gabriel clears his throat. “What about me?”

Tanner shoots him an annoyed look. “You’ll run the damn firm, like usual. I’m not dealing with this shit.”

One blink then Gabriel grins. “Then what will you be doing?”

Standing from his seat, Tanner straightens his tie and tugs at his cuffs. “Being a fucking genius. What else?”

He tosses the pen to the middle of the table, the plastic hitting against the wood with an audible click before spinning over the surface as it slowly loses motion.

Before it stops spinning, Tanner heads to the conference room door. “Family meeting over.”

He lets himself out of the office, then we all return our attention to the slowly spinning pen.

Jase speaks up first. “Has anybody else had fantasies about shoving one of those fucking pens up Tanner’s ass?”

Gabe answers him. “I was thinking shoving the entire pack of pens up his ass would be more entertaining.”

Damn near everyone grunts in agreement.

Shane

“You want to explain to me how Brinley found out I was the asshole who disconnected her starter?”

Priest speaks loud enough to be heard over the music I have blasting while replacing an oil pan.

Rolling myself out from beneath a ‘57 Chevy Bel Air, I stare up at Priest from atop my crawler. “I’ve been meaning to mention that.”

His eyes narrow. “Would’a been good to know before she got done tearing me a new asshole.”

Confused about that, I wonder how Brinley had the opportunity. Between classes and being here at the shop with me, the only time she has to herself is when she’s out with the girls.

Tonight, she was supposed to be at dinner with Luca and Ivy before meeting me back at my house.

The question must be obvious in my expression. Priest scowls.

“Your girl is here, by the way. And I’m headed the fuck out. We’ll talk about what you owe me for this screwup when I see you tomorrow.”

Instantly, my head pops up, and I scan the shop.

Brinley stands at the door of Priest’s office, a soda in hand and a mischievous curl to the corner of her lips.

Little witch…

She must have gotten to Priest before I could stop her.

Although, to see her dressed in a short, black dress with a plunging neckline and skirt that hugs her thighs, I won’t complain that she showed up here to surprise me.

Taking a slow look down her body, I laugh to see she’s still got her usual Converse on.

“All right, man. Drive safe on your way home.”

I don’t bother to look back at Priest when dismissing him.

Whenever Brin’s around, I only have eyes for her.
