Carlton appears with his hair plastered to his forehead."Sorry."

"No worries, I only just got here and I don't think we've got started yet?"She looks at the two of us.

"We were just talking about coffee," Darius says.

"Great, so at least we're all at the same stage," Erica says."I thought maybe it might be worth trying to fill in some of those grids we were given in the last lecture.I didn't really understand what they were for, but I think working through it might help."

I nod."Sounds good to me.I think I get it, but it'll be good to actually confirm that."

"Great."She starts unpacking her bag, and I realise I should do the same. She lets out a sigh."All right, so let's get going.I felt like the information was coming thick and fast in the last lecture."

"Oh, same," Carlton responds."What did you think about the case study?"

Darius slides the packet of chocolate raisins towards me and I give him a grateful smile as I pop another couple into my mouth despite knowing I should be paying attention to what Erica and Carlton are talking about if I want to make the most of our study group.

But I'm too caught up in the secret raisin sharing.

"Thanks for this," I say to Darius.

"You're welcome.I'll make sure I come armed with chocolate to any and all study groups now."

I let out a small laugh."You really don't have to."

A smile that feels like a secret comes from him in response. There's something about the moment that feels different than normal, but I don't really know what it is.Nor does it really matter why it is.Not when I have other things to worry about.

Like the growing need to feed my magic. It might be time that I need to ask for help, because I can't live like this for much longer, even if I'd rather keep the entire situation to myself.

Hopefully, I can figure this out without having to force myself into doing something I don't want to.

The pub is surprisingly busy, though I don't know why considering it's a random Monday night.I weave through the crowd until I reach the bar.

"Oh thank the hearts," Carmel says from the other side."I'm so glad you're here."

"You messaged me SOS," I point out."How could I not come?"

She pulls me a pint of cider and pops it on the bar without even asking.

"Why's it so busy?"I ask, bringing up the app so I can pay for my drink.

"The pub quiz is just finishing," she explains."It'll empty out in about twenty minutes once everyone's finished their drinks. The winning team might stick around for a bit longer, but that's not always the case."

"Right, so what's the problem?"I pick up my pint and take a sip.

"I need your advice on how to break up with my girlfriend."

I raise an eyebrow."What changed between yesterday and today?"

"She yelled at me for coming to work and the fact I won't be home until late. She thought I was planning on spending the night flirting with people rather than just pulling pints of beer."She grimaces, but checks up and down the bar to make sure no one needs anything from her.

"Can you not just tell her that you want a break?"

Carmel sighs."I'm not sure that's going to work."

"Okay, then do it somewhere public and make sure that you have a witness."
