"As is being a succubus," she responds."We just have to find out how it's cool for you."
"Thanks, Evie.I really appreciate it."
"I'm here for whatever you need," she promises me.
"Even if I kick your boyfriend out of the room?"
She laughs."He has a lecture anyway, he was just considering blowing it off, so you actually did him a favour.Not that he'll admit that."
"I'll take it for the win it is.But he isn't the only one with something to get to, I do have a study group to get to."
"I can't believe you're actually managing to go to those."
"They're helpful," I respond."And I've got a great group.Oh, random question, do you know where I can get some really good chocolate raisins?"
"Are there none at the fancy chocolate shop in town?What do you need them for?"
"This guy in my study group shared his bag with me when I was feeling dizzy because of the magic problems.I thought I'd replace them with something good."
She raises an eyebrow."Is this the same guy you were chatting to last night?"
"It doesn't mean anything," I say quickly.
"Are you sure?Cause you denied thatreallyfast."
"I mean, I don't really feel physical attraction to people, hence the whole, not-wanting-sex thing.Though I can tell when they're attractive, and I guess he is that."An image of Darius springs to mind, with his kind smile and the way his eyes sparkle when he's happy.Attractive is one word for it.
"Doesn't mean you can't feel emotional attraction," she points out."They're two different things."
I frown."Are they?"And is that what I'm feeling?
"Mmhmm.Why else would no-strings-attached work?"
"Huh.I mean, I don't think this is that.He's just a nice guy."
"He might be.But that doesn't change how you might feel.You should think about it."
"Believe me, I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about it," I murmur.
Evie chuckles."Well, I'm here to talk through any revelations you might have."
I smile at her because I know she's telling the truth, which is preciselywhyshe's my best friend.
"But now I need to throw you out so I can shower.I'll see you at practice later?"
I nod and get to my feet."Thanks for the chat, Evie."
"Any time.And thanks for the coffee."
I wave goodbye and I head out of the room with a lot to think about.I don't have an exact solution, but I did see a note in the latest newsletter about a cupid-advice session on Friday afternoon.Maybe talking with one of them could help, even if it's nerve-wracking just to think about it.

I tapon the screen of my tablet and bring up the reading I'm supposed to do before my lecture next week.If I'm going to spend the next hour waiting for no one to show up for the cupid advice session, then I may as well put it to good use and do my reading.
