"Maybe not."He smoothes a thumb over the back of my hand."Do you want me to go?"
I shake my head."Stay?Only if you want."
"I want to stay," he promises.
He leans back against the wall and I shuffle closer, leaning my head against his shoulder.
"I'm sorry," I whisper.
"Don't be sorry, there's nothing to be sorry for."
"I'm kind of sorry towards myself," I admit."This could have solved so many problems."
He takes my hand in his and smoothes his thumb over my skin, the feeling comforting and intimate in a way I don't really expect."We'll find another way," he promises."And it doesn't change any of how I feel about you."
Relief floods through me."Thank you for trying this for me.You have no idea what it means to me."
"I think I have some idea," he responds, leaning in and kissing the side of my head.
"I did like the kissing," I admit."That was nice."
"Is that so?"
I nod and move on the bed so I'm kneeling.Nerves flutter within me at the thought of initiating something like this, but it doesn't stop me from leaning in and pressing my lips against his.
Darius kisses me back, and though it doesn't last long, I can feel the emotions that have been hanging in the air between us.
I pull back, finding myself smiling more widely than I expect.
"You're right, that was nice," Darius murmurs.
"It was," I agree."Now we should decide on what to watch before the pizza arrives."
"We should," he agrees.
I grab my laptop and settle back into his arms, a little surprised by how comfortable it is to be in this position, but liking it all the same.

Evie's flatis surprisingly quiet when I arrive, though I suppose it's partly because I'm not really here for a party, just to hang out with my best friend and a couple of others.
I head into the kitchen and wave at the hellhound."Hey," I say, taking a seat.
"Hi.How did you get in?"she asks.
"Your flatmates know who I am and don't seem to care about letting me inside."I take out my bottle of orange juice.
She raises an eyebrow."Just orange juice tonight?"
I nod.
"Cool, I was thinking about taking it easy myself.We don't even have to go out if you don't want to."
"Let's see how it goes.Dancing sounds fun."Though maybe not my wisest idea considering the dizzy spells I've been having.
The door opens and Sera steps inside with one of her best friends behind her.
