Gray needed a name. And, in order to get it, he was willing to go out on a limb.

“If Cross disappeared on you, we can find him. For the right price, of course.” Gray knew he was taking a chance by naming Cross as the traitor, but it was do or die.

“Always a price,” Mesa said.

Gray held his breath, waiting to see if he just scored the winning basket or lost the fucking game with the biggest airball of all time.

Mesa stepped forward, eyes narrowing, spittle flying from his mouth as he said, “Why would I bother with you when I have the best working for me now? These two are tracking Cross down and his days are fucking numbered.”

The Mercier twins gave Gray matching maniacal smiles.

Holy shit.Gray guessed right and now they knew Cross was the one who’d set Ex Nihilo up.

Time to plant more seeds of doubt. “Did you know your dynamic duo here killed Lester Tillman?” Gray didn’t miss the slight clenching of Mesa’s jaw or the tick beneath his eye. “Like I said. They’re taking care of loose ends.”

Gray looked pointedly at the twins.

Mesa’s attention briefly flitted over to the Mercier twins. Then he reached down and carefully scooped up the frog which was slowly making its way up Saint’s crotch. Though he tried to remain cool, Saint’s face flooded with relief once the critter was removed. Gray had never seen the man sweat so much and would have to give him shit for it later. If they managed to get out of this alive.

Gray just hoped he caused enough doubts to fuck with Mesa’s head. Buy them a little more time.

“Go ahead and kill them,” Mesa ordered.

Shit.

Saint cursed under his breath as Julien approached him, and Gray turned his attention to Camille, who’d pulled her gleaming pair of knives out. He’d already met one of those blades and wasn’t too keen to do it again. As she began twisting and spinning them in a taunting show, slowly approaching him, Gray knew without a doubt she couldn’t wait to start slicing into him. And she wasn’t going to make it quick.

Her actions and evil grin were both quickly halted when a round of consecutive BOOMS filled the air. Gray wanted to shout out a victory cry and pump his fist. The fucking warehouse full of cocaine just went up in a blaze of glory and Gray couldn’t help the smirk lifting the corner of his mouth.

“You might wanna check on your product,” Saint said in a dry, amused voice.

Another round of spittle-encrusted curses flew from Mesa’s mouth as he turned and motioned for his soldiers to follow him. As he rushed from the room, shoving past the Mercier twins, he growled, “Kill them!”

Chapter Nineteen

The good news: Gray could snap the zip ties easily.

The bad news: in order to kill him, Gray would have to track Mesa down. Again.

The absolute shit news: the Mercier twins were ruthless and would be formidable opponents to beat.

But Gray had no intention of losing to them. And, right now, he needed Camille as close as possible in order for his plan to work. But, she was still too far away, and he tried to ignore the flashing silver of her knives.

“I stabbed you at the office,” she said nonchalantly.

“It was more of a nick, really,” Gray countered, doing his best to sound bored.

Beside them, Julien paused, listening to their conversation.

“That’s funny because I remember a lot of blood.”

Just a little closer.“And I remember you running back up the steps like a little bitch.”That oughta do it,Gray thought. Rile her up a little.

Camille’s eyes narrowed and, finally, she stepped within reach. Lowering her face right in front of his, she snarled, “We’ll see who the bitch is after I slice off your—”

BAM!

Gray head-butted her in the face so hard, she flew backwards and fell on her ass. Not wasting a second, he threw his weight forward, spinning the chair, and landing hard on the French assassin. The chair split beneath Gray’s weight, crushing Camille. She screamed in fury and pain, dropping her knives.
