Nicholas

The cold night air nipped at my skin as I stepped out of the car, the darkness swallowing us whole. The nondescript house on the outskirts of New York City loomed ahead, its facade shrouded in shadows. I knew Luca Carbone and Antonio Bianchi were hiding there – cowering like the rats they were.

“Stay sharp,” I said to my men, my voice low and controlled. They nodded, their expressions hardened with determination. We moved stealthily through the cover of darkness, the crunch of gravel beneath our feet barely audible.

As I surveyed the surroundings, I noted that the house seemed to have no fortifications. It would be easy to infiltrate, but I couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling that it could be a trap. I hoped we’d be able to take down the last two living members of the Bianchi crime family with little fighting because they were in a heavily populated area. The thought of innocent lives being caught in the crossfire weighed heavily on me, a burden I carried with every decision I made.

“Looks almost too easy, boss,” Riccardo said, echoing my thoughts. His eyes darted around, assessing every possible angle.

“Let’s hope it stays that way,” I replied, my mind racing with strategy. This was about more than just taking down our enemies; it was about protecting my family, especially Liliana. My heart clenched at the memory of her tear-streaked face when I had found her after her kidnapping, all because of these bastards.

“Are we ready?” I asked, turning to face my men. There was an unspoken understanding between us – this wasn’t just a mission, it was personal. Their nods were firm, and I could see the fire in their eyes. It was time to end this once and for all.

“Remember, no civilian casualties. We’re here for Carbone and Bianchi,” I said, my voice steady despite the storm raging inside me. With a final nod, we moved into position, ready to strike.

As we closed in on the house, I thought of Jocelyn and Abby, two innocent souls caught in the crosshairs of our brutal world. Their safety had become my responsibility, and I was determined to ensure it by making sure Luca Carbone could never touch them again..

“Riccardo, take Matty and Enzo to the back entrance. Paulie, you’re with me at the front. The rest of you, cover the windows and side doors,” I ordered, my voice low and commanding. My men moved swiftly and silently, a testament to their loyalty and discipline. I knew I could count on them.

I glanced over at Riccardo, his eyes filled with determination. We had been through so much together, fighting for our family’s survival in this ruthless world. This was just another step toward regaining control and restoring our honor.

“Riccardo, once we breach, you’ll head straight for Carbone. I’ll deal with Bianchi,” I instructed, my mind already visualizing the chaos that was about to unfold. Riccardo nodded, and I saw him clench his fists – he was as eager for revenge as I was.

“All right, everyone, on my signal,” I said, taking a deep breath to steady myself. This was the moment we had been waiting for, the culmination of our efforts to dismantle the Bianchi empire. It was time to show Antonio Bianchi that he had messed with the wrong family.

“Three... two... one... now!” I shouted, and like a well-oiled machine, we sprang into action.

The sound of shattering glass and splintering wood was deafening as we stormed the house, our presence menacing and overpowering. I could hear the panic in the voices of Bianchi and Carbone as they scrambled to respond, but it was too late – we had them cornered.

“Nicholas!” Carbone shouted from somewhere inside the house, desperation evident in his voice. He was a dead man walking, and he knew it.

“Carbone, you piece of filth!” Riccardo snarled as he charged through the chaos, his eyes locked on his target. Carbone’s gun jammed and Riccardo ran for him, each step bringing him closer to the man who had caused so much pain to the Romanos.

My focus, however, was on Antonio Bianchi. I spotted him at the far end of the room, his grey eyes filled with terror. He raised his gun, attempting to fire at me, but I was faster. I lunged forward, tackling him to the ground. Our weapons skidded across the floor, leaving us both unarmed.

“Romano!” Bianchi spat, struggling beneath my weight. But there was no escaping my grip as I pinned him down, my hands wrapped tightly around his throat.

“Your reign is over, Bianchi,” I growled, my heart pounding in my chest. As I looked into his eyes, I saw the fear that consumed him. This man, who once thought himself untouchable, now realized just how vulnerable he truly was.

Through the cacophony of shouting, I noticed Riccardo had managed to overpower Carbone, leaving him bloodied and beaten on the floor. My men were divided, half covering me and half covering Riccardo.

“Please... Romano... mercy...” Bianchi stammered, his breaths shallow and his face turning a sickly shade of purple.

“Mercy?” I hissed, my grip tightening. “Like the mercy you showed my wife?

“Riccardo,” I called out, not taking my eyes off my prey. “Secure Carbone. It’s time to end this.”

“Got it, boss,” Riccardo replied, his voice steady and confident. He moved swiftly to secure Carbone, zip-tying his hands and feet together as the defeated man lay motionless on the floor.

“Please, Nicholas... I beg you...” Bianchi pleaded, his once-menacing tone now replaced with desperation. “I’ll give you anything you want. Money... power... whatever you desire. Just let me go.”

“Your money and power are already mine,” I responded coldly, my eyes narrowing. “You thought you could destroy my family, take everything from me, and walk away unscathed? You were wrong.”

“Nicholas, please,” he sobbed, tears streaming down his face. “It was just a game...between friendly adversaries.”

“A game? You think it’s a game to beat my wife? It’s a game to promise her to your son on our wedding day? What kind of sick bastard are you?”

“Wait!” he cried out, panic evident in his voice. “Haven’t I already paid enough? I’ve lost my son.”
