“You know what? It’s not a bad idea.” She slides my arm off her shoulder and squats in front of me.

“Are you sure you can carry me?”

She looks at me and smirks. “We shall see. If I drop you, it won’t hurt... much.”

I get on her back, certain we look quite ridiculous. But Valerie can not only deal with my weight but also move fast in the snow while carrying me; I sure as hell picked the right girl to fall in love with. Is there anything she can’t do?

“My bike is over there.” I point ahead.

“I see nothing.”

“I covered it in snow.”

“Of course you did.” She sets me down, and I collapse on the bench, groaning. “You said you weren’t hurting.”

“I am now.” I press a hand to my leg and find it drenched. “I need to wrap the wound, or I’ll leave a trail of blood.”

“I don’t have anything on me to use as a bandage.” She hugs herself, shaking.

“You’re freezing. My coat is in my backpack.”

“Let me guess, it’s also buried under all that snow.”

“That’s right. Five points for Slytherin.”

She narrows her eyes. “What makes you think I’m a Slytherin?”

I tilt my head. “Aren’t you?”

She throws her hands in the air and sighs. “Fine. You got me.”

“Do you wanna know what house I’m in?”

She starts to unearth my bike, working fast. “I already know.”

My brows arch. “You do?”

She looks at me. “You’re a Gryffindor.”

My jaw drops. “How did you know that?”

“Please, you have Gryffindor written all over you.” She drags my bike up and props it against the back of the bench. Then she opens my backpack, takes my coat and beanie from it, and tosses the latter to me. “I don’t need the hat.”

“Gee, thanks.” I put it on and say, “Hand me the scarf too. I’ll use it to wrap my leg.”

She walks over instead of tossing it to me. “I’ll do it.”

I watch as she bends down and fusses over my leg. “Ugh, it’s bleeding more than I thought.”

“It’s fine.”

She looks up. “I’m sorry. If I’d known it was you...”

“Don’t stress, but if you’re feeling truly remorseful, you could give me a BJ. I mean, your mouth is awfully close.”

“You’re such a pig, Eric.” She ties the scarf tighter than needed, making me see stars.

“Fuck, woman. I was just teasing.”
