Okay...someone is already having the feels. Hard, hot, punch you in the gut and twist your heart ones. And I think that person is me.

I shake my head. “But you...you’re,” I can barely find the words and he sighs, causing his pecs to pump and even though I’m the grumpy one right now, I still kind of want to use them as pillows tonight.

“I knew you wouldn’t like it. That’s why I hid it from you.”

“Why?” I ask and he stalks over to me. He’s got the prowling thing down, the one that makes me want to roll over, expose my belly and ask him to play with my kitty.

“Because I fancy you.” He says it without any fuss, in his simple stiff upper lip Englishman manner and it might be one of the hottest things I’ve ever heard.

I lick my lips. “You do?” He nods gravely so I add, “I think I fancy you too.”

He snorts. “Fancy me enough to look past that I stand for everything you’re against?”

“I just might,” I breathe, “keep your friends close but your enemies closer, right?”

Blaise lets out a low growl, putting out his two arms on either side of my head, caging me. Our noses touch, our mouths just a few inches apart and our eyes near enough for me to notice that his lashes aren’t black like they first appear but a dark brown.

“And just how close do you plan to keep me?” he asks and a shivers prickle my spine and I slide the back of my fingers up his ripped stomach.

“Close enough,” I swallow, “or pretty close at least.” I inhale. “All right fine, as close as you can get.”

“You know how to please me,” he rasps in my ear, praising me probably for the first time ever and I almost let out a stunned cry, “in more ways than one.”

He reaches for something in the drawer where he put his keys when we first got here and takes out a piece of paper. I drag a sharp breath.

“Is that what I think it is?” I gasp. “B...but I thought you were stingy as fudge.”

“Now you know not to judge”, he smirks, looking smug, “I’m quite generous”. He’s holding a check saying one million pounds for Mermaid to Man. I let out a squeal and all is forgiven.

Trying to grab it, he holds it out of my reach, making me feel like a ditzy kid trying to grab an ice cream.

“You want it?” he says with a grin that makes me feel like the sun is shining down on me. “You sure you really, really want it...?”

“Give it to me,” I cry, practically trying to climb up his body. “When did you write it?”

“Yesterday,” he answers, “I planned giving it without you knowing.”

I gasp, wanting to scold him. “But then I would have just continued on living, thinking you’re an arrogant bastard.”

He doesn’t even look the slightest insulted.

“News flash, I am an arrogant bastard,” he says without an ounce of shame and this time when I grab the check he lets me have it and I shove it into my purse.

“Maybe,” I shrug, “and maybe I like you that way.” With a swift movement I yank his towel away and he throws me a heated look.

“Drop yours, little siren,” he orders huskily and my own towel falls to the floor. He wraps his arms around me and I grow dizzy from the consuming feel of him.

Our mouths touch and we eat each other out, like we’re both dying and this is our last kiss. The next minute he has me up the door. And that day I slam my head against it so many times, one of his neighbors knocks and asks if everything is okay.

We say that it is but it’s definitely, definitely more than that.

Blaise

”No,” my father says, piercing his eyes into mine. “Absolutely not. I won’t allow it.”
