Mr. Glasses spoke, “A $2 million dollar bounty is a lot of money. Perhaps, consider hiding for the week.”

I raised my eyebrows. “What’s your name?”

“They call me Einstein.”

“So here we have Einstein.” I smiled. “Then, Marcelo and Gunner. Do I have that right, fellas?”

They nodded.

“I have a big night ahead of me, along with a big list full of names. These are people I intend on killing. Like Santa’s naughty list, but way more fucked up.” I crossed my arms over my chest. “For now. . .your three names are not on the list. But if you want to keep this fucking conversation going and wasting my time. . .I can put your names on there.”

Sighing, Einstein returned to his book as if no longer caring about the conversation.

Meanwhile, Gunner sat up in his seat. “Watch how you talk to us, Reaper. We’re not the same guys from the last time you saw us—”

“Yes. Yes.” I bobbed my head. “Daddy’s boys are now big, strong, and know how to use their penises. Are we done with this conversation?”

A smile spread across Marcelo’s face. “Red Widow put news of the bounty out on all networks. In fact, there was a special message to the Diamond Syndicate about jumping into the hunt. She told us that she would give us a nice little bonus.”

Gunner whistled. “And you know its Robbing Season right now. Cold streets and empty pockets. There’s a lot of guys that will come out of the shadows to grab a quick 2 mill.”

I tilted my head to the side. “You think killing me would be quick?”

Smart, Gunner pursed his lips.

Einstein flipped a page.

Aggravated, I glanced briefly at Anthony—Mr. Viper Mob Leader—to make sure he was truly fine.

Apparently, he had finished his meal and was now enjoying what looked to be some eggnog drink. Whipped cream layered the top of the glass.

Smiling, he gave me a subtle nod and drank it.

Well, at least someone is enjoying themselves.

I put my view back on Marcelo. “Let’s cut to the chase. What do you want?”

Marcelo leaned forward and locked his gaze with mine. “Zuri is vital to Rowe Street Mob.”

There we go. This is about my baby.

Marcelo continued, “She is the very foundation of our empire. If there is a crack with her, then we all crumble.”

I felt a surge of protectiveness at the mention of Zuri, but Marcelo’s intent gaze held me in place.

He sneered, “If anyone causes Zuri trouble, there will be consequences. Severe ones.”

Gunner pointed at me. “And that includes emotional trouble. No stirring up any issues for her and Carmen. You understand me?”

I met his gaze. “I understand and. . .”

Einstein looked up from his book and watched me.

I cleared my throat. “I actually appreciate your concern for Zuri and my daughter. It makes me happy that you have all been here to protect them while I was behind bars.”

Marcelo turned to Einstein and then Gunner. “I told you that the Reaper was a smart man.”

“I am.” I lowered my arms and placed them on the chair handles. “But let’s get one thing straight. I’m not here to cause trouble for Zuri or Carmen, but don’t mistake that for weakness. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect my family.”

“No weakness detected.” Marcelo’s expression didn’t change, but there was a flicker of respect in his gaze. “It sounds like we all are on the same page when it comes to Zuri and Carmen.”

“I like the sound of that.”

Einstein quirked his brows. His glasses slipped down a half an inch. “If you are not here to cause Zuri trouble, then why show up without any warning and bribe the doorman to what I assume. . .break into her home.”

I assessed what he had not said in that statement.

They have people watching her. Probably even keep some guys protecting her around the building, but no eyes in the building so they didn’t know if I got inside her condo or not before she came home.

Gunner narrowed his gaze. “Your actions aren’t exactly matching your words.”

“The intent hadn’t been to break-in. The doorman thought she might have showed up for lunch, but when I got up there and she didn’t answer. . .I broke in.”

Einstein pushed his glasses up his nose. “Why?”

“You think I need to answer you three about my relationship with Zuri?” My finger itched to grab my gun and shoot them.

Gunner glared. “We’re watching you.”

Einstein returned to his book.

Marcelo studied me. “The Red Widow’s bounty makes me nervous for Zuri and Carmen. We’ve put more men around the building and two extra ones are following Zuri on her date.”

Einstein flipped a page and continued to read. “And how do you feel about her dating?”

The line of my jaw twitched. “If this Alonzo guy doesn’t step aside, I will probably kill him.”
