I nod, relieved to be able to make my escape. I’ll have to do my best to avoid him today. My eyes dart to the door and I swallow hard.

Maybe I should just leave. Something doesn’t feel right here.

I need the money,I remind myself as I head to the back wall and try to become invisible.I’ll spend a few hours here, get paid, and then go home. I can do this.

“Alright everyone! It’s time to get started. Quiet on the set! Places please!” Clark calls and I set my purse down on the floor by the door before I turn back to get my assignment.

Wait. Set?

I’m expecting him to tell me to start in the living room by making sure that everything is in place and clean. Instead, when I turn around, I come face to face with two naked men and one of the women stripping off her clothes as well.

My mouth drops open and I can feel my face turning as red as a tomato. I’m not sure where to look or how to process what I’m seeing. Two more guys in black t-shirts are stepping forward and moving the coffee table back as the cameraman steps behind the camera in the corner.

“What the hell is going on here?”

It takes me a second to realize that someone actually said that out loud because it was exactly what I was thinking at that moment.

I turn, my mouth dropping open even more when I see the giant man standing in the doorway next to me. His black hair is brushed back from his forehead and a little ruffled from the wind or maybe his fingers running through it.

“Relax,” Clark says, rolling his eyes, but I can see it.

He’s nervous. He’s scared of this man.

That should scare me too, but seeing him seems to calm me. I know that I’m safe with him here.

That’s crazy. You need to get out of here before things get even weirder.

“Everyone, get out!” The man snaps and my spine straightens at his order.

An unfamiliar tingle skates down my back and I swallow hard. He’s glaring across the room at Clark and I sidestep, not wanting to be on the other end of his anger.

My movement seems to have caught his attention though and he turns, his bright green eyes locking on me.

I gulp as we stare at each other and desire like I’ve never felt before slides hot and sticky into my belly as we continue to lock eyes.

“Davis, you can’t do this!” Clark snaps and I look away. “This is my place! You can’t boss me around!”

My purse is by the man’s feet. I glance at it and then the door, debating if I should just leave it. It seems like the best option right now, but it has my wallet in it. I need the money in there so I need to grab it. Then I can get the heck out of here.

Maise is going to have so much to say when I tell her about today…

I swallow hard as I crouch down to grab it. I just need to get my things and then I can get out of here. I’ll examine my reaction to the big man once I’m safely back at home.

If I can just make my escape out of here…

I knewthat Clark was going to be trouble.

Truth be told, I never even wanted my cousin to move into one of my rental properties. I know that mixing business with family is never a good idea, but my aunt seemed so desperate. When she got my mom involved, I caved. I can never say no to her.

They convinced me by promising that Clark wouldn’t be a bother and since I have so many rental properties around the city, surely, I could afford to let my cousin stay in one until he got back on his feet. They’re right that I can afford it. What they were wrong about is that Clark wouldn’t be any trouble.

It’s been two weeks since he moved in and so far, I’ve gotten three noise complaints about him throwing parties damn near every night. The last one came just last night so I’m headed over to the apartment now to talk to him and lay out some new rules.

I’m much too busy to be babysitting a grown ass man. I’m going to give Clark one more chance but if I get any more complaints about him, then he’s out. To hell with the fact that he’s family.
