“Bills,” I say vaguely.

“What bills?”

“Rent.”

“You’ll stay with me then,” he says as the car pulls into a parking spot.

What?

I blink, wondering if I heard him right, but he ignores that. He climbs out of the SUV and offers me his hand.

“You don’t have to do this. I can find another way to make up the money.”

“I can’t have that,” he says and I frown.

What does that mean?

“Come on, baby girl.”

“I really do need to head home. I have to be at work tomorrow morning and all of my stuff is there.”

“I’ll have someone pick it up for you. Whatever you need.”

“Why are you insisting on this?” I blurt out.

“Because you’re meant to be mine and because you need someone to look after you and that someone is going to be me.”

My mouth drops open and I stare at him blankly. No one has ever talked to me like this before and I’m not sure how to react. Part of me loves that he’s taking charge of the situation. It’s nice to not have to constantly make decisions or worry about things.

Should I let him do this though? Should I let him take care of me?

Before I can figure that out, he’s reaching inside the SUV and lifting me into his arms like I weigh nothing at all. I squeak, clinging to him as he carries me over to the elevator and hits the top floor button.

We ride up in silence and I can’t help but wonder what I’ve gotten myself into.

Or why all of this feels so right.

“Are you hungry or thirsty?”I ask Izzy as I reluctantly set her back down on her feet.

We’re in my foyer and I can’t wait to show her around our place. I want her to like it here, to leave her mark on every room. If she hates the whole place, then we’ll sell it and buy something that she loves. I can live anywhere as long as she’s there with me.

“I’m alright. Thanks,” she adds as she looks around the living room.

The elevator dings behind me and I turn to my driver and bodyguard, Max.

“I need you to go to her place and get her things. All of her things.”

“Yes, sir,” he says and he steps back into the elevator as I go to find my girl.

She’s standing in the living room, her nose practically touching the floor to ceiling windows that overlook the city.

“This view is incredible,” she says almost reverently.

“Mine is better,” I tell her and she blushes when she realizes that I mean her.
