“I thought I would return to you with some numbers,” he responded.

“Oh, please, do share,” Astrid said, resting her chin on fists.

“I have thirty orkin with me, unwilling to accept the human females,” he said coldly.

“And of those thirty, how many of them are of mating age?” Astrid asked.

“Fifteen.”

“And how many of your sons?”

“One,” Magna responded, attempting to hold his ground.

“So even with the thirty orkin you managed to convince of your outdated ideas, you were only able to convinceoneof your three sons?” Astrid replied, shocked.

At this Magna looked at his lap, “The other two are interested in finding a mate. They think a human female might be their only hope,” he said.

“Ah,” Astrid said knowingly. “And what do you and the thirty orkin you’ve collected plan to do?”

“Leave,” Magna said bluntly.

“And go where?” Piper interjected.

“We were thinking the Snaerfírar tribe in the north might not be so willing to accept weak humans,” Magna sneered.

“So not only are you a misogynist, you clearly have trouble listening. You’ve already discussed with Jarl Agnarr that the Snaerfírar tribe has accepted human women and has the half-orc offspring to prove it,” Pip purred.

“Perhaps you’d have better luck with the Vátrfírar tribe in the south,” I said, keeping my eyes on Piper. After yesterday, I didn’t want her to overexert herself fighting all the battles for the human women.

“You’re certain the Snaerfírar tribe was accepting of human women?” Magna grumbled.

“Steve seemed very happy and beloved in his tribe. He held a position of trust and was treated as equal. So, yeah, we’re pretty certain,” Pip said, seemingly unruffled.

Magna shifted in his seat, clearly uncomfortable with the news he’d just received.

“Well, it is your choice, Magna. Are you going to take your followers and head to Vátrfírar or are you going to stay and respect the human women?” Astrid questioned.

“I will have to discuss with those with me. We all had agreed to head to Snaerfírar. This… changes things,” he said gruffly.

“Well, feel free to do so. However, would you please send us your eldest son as your replacement? We want to move forward with our plans,” Astrid asked.

“How did you know my eldest was in support of the human women?” he huffed.

“How old is Skaard?” Astrid asked.

“Thirty-three árs.”

“And still no mate?”

“No.”

“And how old is Iric?”

“Twenty-eight árs.”

“Ozur?”

“Twenty-two árs.”
