"I'm so sorry," I say, my voice breaking slightly.

"Thank you for coming and for your support," Olivia replies, tears streaming down her face. "Please look after Scar."

I nod. "I promise to be there for her in any way I can."

She hugs me tightly as she clings to me, body shaking with her sobs. I sense the weight of her struggles in her embrace. I squeeze her even tighter, and I feel my own eyes welling up with tears.

As we parted ways, I couldn't help but wonder where Skye went. My eyes landed on a solitary figure in the back corner, head down and lost in thought. It was Skye, standing alone and seemingly disconnected from the world around her.

I make my way toward Skye, anger radiating through me. I can’t believe she told Scar about her pregnancy without discussing it with me first.

"Hey," I say as I walk up to her.

She lifts her head, hesitation casting a shadow over her face.

"Are you angry with me?" she asks in quiet voice.

"We're not doing this now." I gently pull her by her elbow and lead her outside and into my truck. After slamming my door shut, I turn to face her.

"Why, Skye? How could you be so careless?" I ask, my tone sharp.

We had decided to keep our pregnancy a secret, at least for a little while, until we figured out our next steps.

"I'm sorry," she says, tears welling up in her eyes.

I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. "I can't believe you could be so selfish," I tell her. "What you did was wrong. I told you I wanted to tell her on my terms and today wasn’t a good day to do it."

"I know, I messed up," she replies, sounding apologetic. "I just thought she had a right to know."

"Why would you say that?" I ask, my voice filled with disbelief.

"Come on, Mav. You can't tell me you don't see it."

As I look at her, I can’t understand the meaning behind her words.

She sighs and looks away. “Mav, she still has a crush on you. She’s had one for years." She turns her gaze to me. "I didn't want to hurt her, but I also knew that I had to make it clear that you and I were serious about one another."

Her words echo in my mind as I stare out the window as the rain starts to drizzle. Skye has reminded me for some time about Scar having feelings for me beyond friendship, but I always dismissed them. She was my best friend’s sister, and I enjoyed spending time with her.

But as I watch the raindrops slide down the glass, I can’t help but think about what Skye said. Maybe there is something there that I have been ignoring. Maybe I have been too blind to see it.

I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I don’t want to ruin my friendship with Scar by letting my imagination run wild.

Skye and I sit in silence for a few moments, the tension between us palpable.

"I know I messed up, and I'm sorry," Skye says as she breaks the tense silence that has enveloped us, taking my hand in hers.

"I just wish you had taken her feelings into consideration," I reply, feeling a sense of frustration.

"I know, and I promise I won't do something like that again," she says, her eyes sincere, but it almost seems forced.

"Let's just go," I say as I pull my hands away from her and start the truck. I’m already over this conversation and this dreadful day.

The drive back home is tense, and neither of us speaks. Once we arrive, I go straight to our bedroom, trying to process my emotions from my best friend's death and the possibility of losing Scar all in the same day. It is a lot to handle. It is overwhelming to deal with such intense emotions all at once.

I sit on the edge of the bed, staring at the floor, lost in thought. I can’t hold back my emotions any longer. Tears stream down my face as I think about Seth, his life, and the memories we shared. The silence is deafening, and I can’t help but think about all the times I spent with Seth. I also can’t shake off the feeling that Scar is slipping away from me. I have to talk to her and let her know that I am there for her. But for now, I need time to grieve and process everything that has happened.

I reach for my phone and quickly type out a message to Scar.
