He pushed in further, and even though he’d said he wasn’t going to be gentle, I could tell he was trying not to hurt me. “Fuck, you’re tight,” he groaned as he pushed in further. He froze. “This isn’t your—”

I laughed, wiggling my hips to try to hurry him up. “Of course not. There’s been a few in here before you.”

“Don’t mention other men when I’m fucking you,” he growled, low in his throat, his hips bucking as he surged into me, his cock burying deep inside. There was a slight burn as I adjusted, but I was so wet that within seconds I was ready, the walls of my pussy squeezing around him as he started to move.

“Oh, fuck!” I moaned as he pulled almost all the way out, before slamming back into me, gliding right over my G-spot. He picked up a rhythm, spurred on by my increasingly desperate moans as my orgasm built. With each thrust the tree dug into my skin, but the pain only heightened my pleasure. I tightened my arms around his neck, rolling my hips to match each of his thrusts as he drilled into me.

Callan kissed me again, and I whimpered into his mouth as his tongue danced with mine, rocketing me over the edge. I broke apart at the seam as I rode my climax out, his pace never letting up. If anything, he fucked me harder, leaves falling from the tree as his relentless strokes rocked us. He leaned into me, shifting his weight so he was able to support me with one hand as I clung to him weakly, aftershocks of my orgasm still coursing through me with each thrust.

His free hand slid between us, finding my swollen clit, and I groaned as he worked the sensitive ball of nerves in time with his thrusts. “Callan,” I panted, gasping as I fought to keep myself together, threatening to break apart completely as he built me up again. “I can’t.”

“Yes, you can,” he commanded. He rammed into me even harder, swiveling his hips in just a way that he hit all my most sensitive parts, his fingers still circling my clit in a relentless attack on my sanity. “Come for me.”

That was all it took, and I came again, screaming in the midnight forest. I dug my fingernails into his back as I came, clawing at him in a pleasure-crazed frenzy. I’d had sex before, but no one had ever fucked me like that. He moved faster, harder, as he approached his own climax, and I clenched, tightening my pussy around him as hard as I could, eliciting the sexiest moan I’d ever heard as I did.

“You smell so fucking good,” he told me, burying his face in my neck as he thrust, and I knew he was getting close. I reached my head to the side, sinking my teeth into his shoulder, harder than I probably should have, and he groaned.

“You’re going to be the death of me,” he said, before dipping his head back towards my neck, giving me a matching bite. He built me up for a third time that I didn’t think I could survive as his movements got more and more urgent. I tightened my pussy again, and he let out a guttural shout as he swelled inside me, both of us launched over the edge as he came.

“Mine,” he growled into my neck, as he let me slowly slide down his body and back on my own two feet. He didn’t let go, pulling me into his embrace, tightly, as if I might fly away.

“Yours,” I agreed, not knowing how much longer I would be able to say that.

ChapterTwenty-Five

“Rowan.”

I stirred, stretching languidly as I slowly opened my eyes. The memories of the night before trickled back to me, my heart swelling. I was the good kind of sore, the kind that only comes about after a night of getting thoroughly fucked, and I smiled to myself. We’d gone most of the night, until we were both so exhausted we had to sleep, the next day looming over our heads like a guillotine. I looked around for Callan, but only the bag I had packed and my dagger lay on the ground nearby. A pit of dread settled in my stomach.

“Callan?” I called softly, the early morning light casting a glow around the forest that I would have stopped to admire if I wasn't on the verge of panicking. I sharpened my hearing, cocking my head as I listened intently, but there was nothing. Did he change his mind and decide he didn’t want to do this with me? Had I misunderstood, and this was just a one-time thing? Doubts raged through my head as I slowly stood, making sure to loop my dagger back into the sheath I had clipped to my jeans. I wasn’t planning on stabbing him, unless he really did leave me in the forest all alone, but you never knew.

“Rowan.”

With my enhanced shifter hearing, I picked it up that time. It sounded like Callan, but his words sounded garbled, distorted somehow. I looked back toward my cabin, but the world was quiet, only the slight beginnings of the pack starting to wake up to prepare for the day.

“Over here.”

I whipped my head to the right, focusing on the shimmering magical barrier of the wards. It was a darker color than I remembered, but visibility had been pretty bad the night before. I could barely make out the shape of Callan standing on the other side, the pixels obscuring my vision of the other side.I knew it was hard to see through, given I could see the magic, but I didn’t realize it distorted sound too.

“What are you doing?” I called out to him as I approached the barrier.

“Come here,” he said, his voice demanding as his silhouette motioned me forward. It was like I could tell his body was there, but the golden magic blocked out all the details of him, so he was just a Callan-sized shadow. Irritation blossomed at his tone. Just because we’d had sex didn’t mean he just got to boss me around. “Please,” he added.

I’d chosen to stay. I had to make sure the plan we’d worked up was carried out or this was all for nothing. If we killed Cas, then the Queen would be left weakened. Vulnerable. We’d have the upper hand in her stupid game. I just hope I didn’t come to regret it.

I stepped up to the magical barrier, eyeing it. I didn’t think it would hurt me, but I couldn’t see clearly what was on the other side. But if Callan had walked through, then I should be fine. I doubt he would have let me walk through something that was going to hurt me.

I stepped forward, feeling only the barest of a sensation as I walked through, nothing more than a slight shiver of energy, but my stomach dropped when I saw who was on the other side.

“Cas,” I said flatly, my hand already pulling my dagger out of its sheath, bearing it protectively in front of me. Of course, it’d been a trap. You idiot.

My half-brother glared at me, electricity crackling in his eyes. He had an air of power and danger around him, and he looked more disheveled than I’d ever seen him, his face already hollowed in just one short week. “You look terrible.” I spoke more bravely than I felt as I scanned the clearing I’d stepped into.

Cas took a step closer, and I stepped back, my back bouncing against the now solid magical barrier.Uh-oh.Behind Cas, two figures stepped forward, and I immediately understood why I couldn’t get back through. Roxy’s hands swirled with magic as she cast a spell on the barrier behind me, turning it a milky white color. Two other women stood on each side of her with glowing hands, and Lexi’s scarred face and fiery mane made her look wild. She grinned at me, her nose twitching as she scented the air. She looked back at me, her eyes narrowed as she bared her teeth. Behind them were even more Fae I didn’t recognize and a whole den of venomous naga behind them.

Oh my god, I was going to die.

I didn’t give Cas time to give me his supervillain speech. I was sure there was one, there always was with assholes like him, but I wasn’t going to stick around and find out. My best weapon against him was the element of surprise. Last time we’d fought head to head, he’d almost had me. Lightning flowed to my fingertips eagerly as I called on it, brimming just under the surface as it waited for my command. Energy thrummed through me as I felt the edges of my hair start to stand up.
