My limbs trembled. I couldn’t breathe. Vomit lurched into my esophagus as Rocky glared my way with his gun pointing just above my head. His eyes weren’t on me. They were fixated on the man who was holding me against him and playing with my tit.

“Next time, you should reconsider bringing your girl to the clubhouse if you don’t want her manhandled by your brothers.” He pinched my nipple through my shirt.

I cried out in pain and bent forward. A loudpopwent off at the same time, jarring me. I covered my face, tumbling back and hitting my head on the concrete floor. Stars flashed before my eyes, and my ears rang.

A commotion broke out around me. Several morepopsblasted through the air.

My assaulter’s hands fell away, allowing me to roll off him. I took in his vacant gaze and the blood pooling under his head. Rocky had killed him.

I searched for my boyfriend and found two more bodies on the floor, blood gushing out of their skulls. I turned right, then left, struggling to catch my breath. Then I found Rocky. Keg had him in a choke hold and raised his handgun toward the ceiling, and it went off.

“Calm the fuck down!” Keg yelled.

The room stilled at his orders.

“Let this be a lesson to you that RJ means business. Don’t fuck with him unless you want to end up with a bullet in your head.” He shook Rocky with a proud glint in his eyes.

I couldn’t move as the other bikers lowered their weapons and backed away.

“You’re looking at the future president of Hell’s Bells MC, and don’t you forget it! Should something happen to me, or when I’m all dried up, Rocky Jones will take my place.” Keg gave Rocky a tight hug. “Fucking proud of you.”

“Thanks.” Rocky’s jaw clenched as he pulled away. “Now leave me the fuck alone.”

“You got it.” Keg chuckled, returning to his chair. “Someone clean up the massacre.” He wasn’t exaggerating. Three men were dead, and their blood formed a small pond in the middle of the bar. If Keg hadn’t stopped the madness, there was no telling how many Rocky would’ve killed without blinking an eye.

“Come on, baby.” Rocky lifted me into his arms and carried me out of the room. “Are you okay?” His voice was even and unfazed, yet concern shone in his gray depths.

“I don’t know. What should I be feeling right now?”

He stopped at the end of a hallway and gently placed me on my feet, with my back against the wall. He fished out a set of keys, then unlocked and opened the door. He swept me off my feet, kicked the door shut, locked it, and carried me into a bathroom.

He said nothing. After perching me on the toilet seat, he held my shoulder to steady me and turned the shower on.

“What are you doing?” Everything felt weird and hazy. My hearing was off, sort of muffled as I spoke. My body felt numb, like my head was detached from it. My vision was blurry, as if I’d been crying, but I didn’t recall shedding a tear.

“Cleaning you up.” He quickly removed his clothes and boots.

“Why?” I reached for his stomach to touch his hard abs.Ride Till I Diewas tattooed below his belly button. “I’ve never seen a man naked before.” Wait. Had I actually said that? Was I dreaming?

He removed my denim jacket. “Raise your arms, baby.” He tugged the hem of my shirt and lifted it over my head when I obeyed his command. He tossed it into the sink with my jacket and turned the water on. The bowl quickly filled with water, and it turned pink.

“Wh-why’s it…”

“Shh, baby. Let’s get the rest of your clothes off.” He helped me to my feet.

I must’ve zoned out for a spell. Suddenly, warm water poured down my back, and the fog cleared. Rocky was in the shower with me, washing my hair. I lifted my eyes to his. My God, he was the most handsome, sexiest guy I’d ever seen.

“Why are we in the shower?” I went to look down, but Rocky’s hand shot to my chin and kept it in place.

“Don’t. Just keep your eyes on mine. I’m almost finished.”

“Almost finished with what?” Why didn’t he want me to look down? What didn’t he want me to see?

“Washing your hair. Do you remember anything that happened?”

I thought for a minute. “We were in the clubhouse, talking to your uncle.”

“Yes. Anything else?” The palms of his hands glided down my back in a soothing manner. It felt so good and relaxing.
