“Bullshit. She wouldn’t let you go,” Xabier said, laughing. “You sure you’re not fucking her?”

“No, and I didn’t kiss her back.”That much. It’d felt good to have a woman all over me. All the more reason to blow up this compound and return home to Ella. I couldn’t go another day without her.

“Okay, boss. My eyes must’ve been playing tricks on me.” Xabier elbowed me. “We’re just screwing with you to pass the time. We know you want to get home to your girl.”

“Damn straight I do.”

“Yeah, and we might be a little jealous already,” Keeno said.

“What are you talking about?” I couldn’t imagine why they would be jealous.

“It sounds like your woman is your whole fucking world, and we probably won’t see you again once you’re back with her.”

“You both knew the plan from the beginning. After crippling my sperm donor’s MC, I wasn’t returning to Texas. Nothing’s changed. I gotta go back for Ella.”

“Damn, you have it bad for her, don’t you?” Keeno shook his head as he peered into his binoculars.

“You could always bring her to Texas,” Xabier said. “Start your own club?”

I grunted as I massaged my temples. My head was pounding, and I wasn’t feeling myself. Shit, I hadn’t been right for months. The stress of being away from Ella and having Irisah tempting me left and right had taken its toll. I needed to sleep for weeks with my woman in my arms, then I’d feel better.

“We’re ready, boss,” Xabier’s cousin, Chevy, said into the Bluetooth. “Got my finger on the button.”

“Don’t do anything until I give the word.” I lined up my .338 sniper rifle to the main entrance door. Xabier and Keeno were also in position. “Remember, we’re only after bikers wearing cuts. Try to avoid women and children.”

“We know,” they all said at once.

Suddenly, people ran out of the clubhouse, toward a row of garages.

“What the fuck’s happening? Go, go, go! Blow that fucker up!” I yelled at the top of my lungs. White-hot pain shot through my head as I unloaded my rifle on my target, waiting for the first RPG to launch. A few people fell on the ground, but more were running for cover.

“There it goes!” Xabier hollered.

“Boom!” Keeno laughed when the grenade hit the back of the clubhouse. A black ball of smoke went up toward the sky.

“Chevy, launch another one!” My vision blurred, and I saw double. I blinked rapidly, the pain in my head at an all-time high, like someone was stabbing me in the eye. “Chevy, do you hear me?”

“Your friends are dead, motherfucker, and we’re coming for you next!” a voice said, one I wasn’t familiar with.

“Who is this?” I scrambled to my feet and swayed once I was standing.

“We gotta get out of here!” Xabier collected his shit and ran for the truck.

“Rocky, you okay?” Keeno asked.

“No. Something’s not right.” I bent at the waist, smashed my hands to the sides of my head, and fell to the ground. “Get me out of here,” I muttered before I passed out.

“Get up.” Vegas sighed and put his dick back in his pants.

I got off my knees after blowing him and stood, like a used bitch. My feelings for him had changed; my eyes were wide open now. I obeyed when he asked me to come to his office, but only because I was biding my time while I figured out how to get out of Scornrock.

“I don’t like this tension between us, darlin’. You and I have always been good together. I want to get back to where we were before I overreacted about Tomcat.”

“You more than overreacted, and I can’t forgive you for it.” In fact, I would love to kill him and would—if I didn’t have my son.
