“Yes, but…”

“The missionaries close to where I left the Ularans welcome volunteers. I’m sure they’d be grateful for monetary donations or unwanted pharmaceutical products.” He smiles at me. “I can’t promise anything, although it might be a way to find Kaikare. She’d want to see you again and meet her brother.”

“Oh, honey, I’ll do anything to help,” Mum adds. “I could help with the administration and set up of the account while you focus on marketing. We’d like to contribute to Dawn’s community.”

“Your friend, Rhett, has already offered to sponsor.” He kisses my cheek. “It might be the answer to uniting your family.”

“It’s your family too,” I say warmly.

“We can only try.” Pride oozes from Dad. “Because it’s what families do. My mother was brave, and I want to honor her memory and show the same courage in finding my sister.”

I take Samuel’s hand and gently squeeze. “Only if there’s no danger to anyone.”

“I’ll get correspondence to Dr. Jacques. It’s all I can do for now.”

My father once thought of Gran aswild.

Brave and wild, maybe.

And he wants to venture on the same path as Gran to find answers. Maybe it is our destiny.

I glance around the table at my family.

Then to the man who is my world.

The man I once thought to also be wild.

To me, he will always beperfectly wild.
