I inhale a sharp breath. Is there harm in one night? It’s not like I’ll ever see him again. Since I first saw him on the beach, I’ve wondered what’s under that suit. “Come closer,” I whisper.

He frowns then leans in so his face is inches from mine.

“What do you want?”

His eyes darken. “To makeyousmile.” His words are deep and breathy, and the air from his lips wafts around my face. I inhale it as though it’s a life force. He then adds, “I want you, Penny.”

My knees buckle, and my sex throbs with need. Even the back of my neck tingles as lust rips through my body. No one has said those words to me in a Very. Long. Time. And certainly not the sexiest man in the room.

“You’re wrong,” I murmur, then trace a finger over my lips. “I almost came hearing my name on your lips. No fucking required.” Now I’m thinking of all the things his mouth could do to me.

His eyes widen then lower, and I feel the heat of his gaze on my body. A low growl sounds from his throat. “You’re killing me, Penny.”

I’m so turned on just speaking to him. “There’s some sort of magic in the grapes they use in the wine.”

He raises a single brow, cups my chin with his hand, leans closer, and softly kisses me. I cup his handsome face and hold his lips to mine. He tastes like whiskey and a hint of mint. His tongue entangles around mine, and I let out a moan.

He pulls away, putting space between us. It’s probably a good idea since we are standing in the foyer for everyone to see.

“Not magic.” His sexy eyes hold mine captive. “This is all me. To answer your question, it’s room 208.”

“I didn’t ask,” I whisper as I watch his sexy ass walk out of the foyer toward the staircase. My fingers touch my tingling lips. Why did he have to taste so good? I do everything not to follow him and force myself to return to the restaurant.

“I was about to come find you,” Hugh says when I sit beside him.

Now that I’m here, I regret not following Franklin. My sex throbs as though I have denied us a potentially life-changing orgasm. Overdramatic, but it’s been so long my sex is no longer in drought. The rain is officially here. I’m so wet for Franklin, I can’t think of anything else. I don’t look at Hugh because I’m about to tell a lie, and he’ll see straight through me.

“I’m not feeling well. Too much wine.” I lean down and pick up my purse. “I’ll see you in the morning for breakfast.”

He touches my arm. “Do you want me to walk you up? My aunt’s conversation is hardly stimulating.”

“No, I’m good. I want to rest for the big day tomorrow,” I whisper.

I stride out of the restaurant and rush up the stairs to the second floor. Before I take a guess at going left or right, I slow, seeing him leaning on the wall with one leg bent, his foot resting on the skirting, his arms crossed.

He smirks at me. “It took you long enough.”

PENELOPE

He takesmy hand and leads me along the hallway, and I count numbers on doors like a time bomb in my head.

200.

202.

204.

206.

I know what this is, but I’m so freaking anxious.

Damn him for kissing me in a way that I want more.

We stop at room 208.

I stop breathing.
