“Yasmin!I never thought---” But his cheeks were blushing, and she knew better than that. She shook her head and raised a hand.

“No, please. It’s fine.Looking at me, I would have thought that too.He hasn’t claimed me though, so I am not sure how this will end.I love him, Ed.I will do everything I can to help, but I need to know all of it.”

“All of it?”

“Yes.”

“Fuck,” the frazzled Baer growled, and ran a hand over his face.“Okay, he was arrested on some trumped up charges claiming illegal importation of goods and money laundering---”

“Money laundering?!”

“Yeah, but you know, he’s innocent of that charge, right?”

“Yeah.Of course, but the other?”

“Well,” Eduardo rubbed his neck, his face a flaming red color.“The clients here have certain penchants for snacks that aren’t exactly legal in New York.Just about every Shifter business uses the same contacts, so it’s not like he’s alone in this.”

The Bear shrugged, and Yasmin shook her head. She knew about the zebra steaks, whale blubber, specialty caviars, and other goods that Shifters could not get enough of.Hell, she was a Lioness, for fuck’s sake.

The Stripe Clubhad quite the menu when it came to savannah fare.Yasmin simply loved the gazelle sliders and water buffalo steak sandwiches that were part of the menu offered to the staff.Meat like that was not exactly found at the local grocery store.

“I understand,” she replied.Yasmin looked up from the list to see Eduardo staring at her with concern.

“Ed, of course I know he’s innocent. That mobster, Ivanovich, is an animal, and we will learn more after he sees his lawyer.Konstantin is going to beat this.”

“Yeah.Good.I just wanted you to know, cause he’s like loved you for a real long time.”

Warmth filled her at the Grizzly’s statement.Had Konstantin loved her that long?Maybe she was right to hope, after all.Filled with renewed determination, Yasmin started making plans.

Besides, no matter what she heard about charges or misdeeds, she owed it to Konstantin to wait to hear him speak for himself. But knowing how careful the big man was, she was sure he was not involved in anything really bad.Love beat all, wasn’t that the saying?

“I love him too, Eduardo.”

“The other thing is, well, you know Ivanovich’s sons came and tried to get him to agree to laundering his blood money, right?Well, it gets worse. The man himself is here, Yas.And he’s kidnapped Konstantin’s sister.”

“Oh no!We have to find her---”

“Yes,” the Grizzly growled.

Yasmin saw something else flash in his eyes when he mentioned Alina Petrova.Konstantin had told her about his family. Her heart broke for him, having to leave them so long ago.

Oh my!Was the big Shifter stuck on Konstantin’s sister? That was interesting, but not the most important thing at the moment.

“I’ve got a beat on her location, but I need confirmation before I make a move.”

“Okay,” she replied.“We need to make sure the intel is real first, Ed.You do that and I’ll clean up this mess and get the club up and running.”

“You would do that for him?”

“I would do anything for him.”

“You know something? He’s lucky to have you, Yasmin.”

“Yeah well, after all this we’ll see if he feels that way too.”

“He will,” Eduardo replied, and the sound of his phone buzzing caught his attention.“It’s a text from the lawyer. He says Konstantin will be arraigned this evening. He should be home soon!”

“Good,” Yasmin replied, clearing her throat.
