I wrap my fingers around her wrist to guide her through the crowd, feeling the beat of the newest song in my chest with every step. The heat of her body crowds behind mine as we ascend the carpeted stairs, ignoring any look that comes our way. They aren’t long looks anyway. This is a Halloween party after all, there’s much more shocking things to see. For all they know, we’re two besties searching for a bathroom.

Shockingly, it doesn’t take long to find an empty room. The houseislarge, which I’m now grateful for. It’ll be a lot easier convincing her to leave with me after giving her a taste of what she has to look forward to if she does. And I can only do that in private.

The room is small but lit up with the same blue hue as the party downstairs, almost as if someone has prepared it just for us to find. It smells like perfume and soap in here, thankfully, lending to my hopes that this is a clean place to get a little dirty.

The music is muffled but still floating through the thick wood door I’ve locked behind us. Outside of the song playing, there’s no sound exchanged from me or Cora. Our silence vibrates between us, hot tension buzzing in the air.

She’s the first to break it. “Are you going to talk to me now, ghostess?”

This time I nod, but still don’t say a word.

She hums and flips her hair to one side of her face, exposing her neck. I’d like to sink my teeth into it. I’d like to sink my teeth into more than just the side of her throat, and my patience is slowly dying out.

I have her within my reach, and a week may not sound like a long time, but fuck its nice to be able to look at her again. She has me so twisted up, I doubt she even knows it.

“Are you going to shed your mask so we can… chat?”

I offer another nod, slowly raising my fingers up to tease the black fabric of my mask’s hood. Cora follows my hands and shifts on her feet, a taunting grin painting her face.

“Come on… Take off the mask.” Her head tilts. “I want to see you…Nova.”

Mmm, my smart girl.I thought she might be able to recognize my body.

I’m glad she did. Now I don’t have to punish her for following another woman into a dark room tochat. But in doing so, she’s exposed herself. She’s admitted that she followedmeinto this little room, knowing exactly who I am.

I curl my fingers around the chin of the Ghostface mask and peel up. Shedding the fabric from around my head, I watch her eyes flash with a heated recognition. Maybe she wasn’tentirelysure it was me under here.

Still, lucky her. If it were anyone else and I happened to find out about it, she might just have some blood on those pretty little manicured hands. What can I say? I’m territorial with my gorgeous, slutty girl.

Like she suddenly notices that she hasn’t bitched me out yet, she sneers. “What are you doing here?”

God she’s sexy when she uses her cold-hearted cunt voice.

“What do you think I’m here for, the ambiance? I came for that tight little body you tried to sneak away from me. Leaving in the middle of the night?” I tsk, shaking my head. “Did you think that would keep me away?”

“I thought you’d get a clue and fuck off out of my life.”

“Me-ouch.” I chuckle, letting my eyes travel down the length of her. Her dress fits like a glove—they always do. “You’re always sosexywhen you talk dirty to me. Such a mean girl to your sweet stepsister.”

She notices me ogling and curls her lip. Cora isn’t pleased to be caught off guard. She likes control, even if sheloveswhen I take it from her, she’ll deny it.

“Sweet?” she asks angrily. “You’re about as sweet as a lemon.”

“I love lemons,” I quip, tossing her a smirk.

“You would,” she bites out.

“You look lovely as an Angel,” I comment, ignoring her disdain.

Her arms fold over her stomach and her hip pops to the side. “Don’t lie, you’re shit at it.”

“Okay, you look like a cheap whore,” I deadpan. “How much for the night?”

Her palm cracks against the side of my face faster than I can stop it. The air in the room becomes chill, and I slowly turn my head, pinning her with a scathing look.

“You getone.” I step closer, and she immediately steps back. “You don’t want to try that again, Cora.” The timber of my warning is enough to make her shiver.

“I don’t know why I did that,” she whispers before shaking her head. She’s never hit me before, and clearly it’s shocked her more than it’s shocked me. “You shouldn’t be here.”
