My head now weighs a tonne and my eyes couldn’t stay open, not even with pins.

“Did you enjoy the show?” he asks, and I’m surprised, at a time like this…

“I loved it,” I murmur.

“Good. That’s all I care about.”

I’m confused but as inertia sweeps in and claims my faculties, I don’t think too hard on it.

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow, we’ll deal…

Chapter Three

The smell of bacon triggers my senses, but I’m still half dreaming and reluctant to open my eyes. I also have Albie Hart behind me, his arms wrapped all around me. This must have happened while I was asleep because I can’t remember us making the decision for him to spoon me while we were awake.

Kallie is being noisy on purpose as she moves around the tipi. Plus, she knows bacon is my cure-all after a heavy night.

“What time is it?” I mumble without opening my eyes.

“Around ten o’clock.” She sounds pissed off. “Just had to suffer your fucking bitch of a boss who wanted to know where Albie is. Don’t worry, she’s cleared off now she knows. They’d all gone into panic mode. He left his phone back in his trailer. I saw on the news—”

“Shit, they’ve already caught wind, then.”

I crack one eye open and finally see her face, looking not too impressed. She detests Albie even more than she does Sharon. She’s ramming a bacon butty in her mouth but doesn’t have one for me.

“Take my car. I’ll ride home with Biggie and the crew.” She means her friends who come to the festival every year to sell junk food from their van. “You need to get out of here as quick as you can before anyone realises he’s hiding here.”

He’s still asleep and I doubt he’ll wake anytime soon; his breathing is heavy, his arms are fastened so tight around me—including one hand clutching a breast—and more than anything, I just know Albie. After a concert, particularly one where he gave it his all, he never gets up before three the next day. The only way we could maybe make it work…

Nah, I rubbish the thought in my head—of us pushing him across farmland and up and down hills on a stolen luggage trolley. Ridiculous idea!

“They wouldn’t even let Sharon pass into the tipi park?” I ask, hence how she only knew where Albie had got to once Kallie set her straight.

“They wouldn’t! Which surprises mehegot in with the rep for trouble he has.”

“Hmm. He is a wily bastard though. Maybe the security guys like him more than they do her.”

“Or… he got through the tipi gate with someone he was intending to shag.”

I shake my head. “He was a shadow of himself last night. He’d had a lot to drink, too.”

Kallie rubs her chin. “Well, everyone will soon be making their way over to start queuing for tonight’s headliner. We gotta hope nobody has ratted you out and that you can sneak him to the car park once the acts get underway today.”

“I’ll go with that.” I sigh and rub my face into the cool edge of the pillow. I’ve never had it so good at a festival; usually I wake up with my face glued to someone’s armpit.

“I’ll see you back in London, mate.” She scoffs and shuts us inside the tent on her way out.

I try to extract my breast from Albie’s grip but he starts mumbling, “No, no, no, no.”

“Fiiiine.”

He grunts his pleasure and I chuckle, then we fall right back to sleep.

He’s the one who wakes me up, sitting on the edge of the bed next to me, the mattress sinking and my body with it.

Albie tucks my loose blonde hair behind my ear and speaks softly. “Could you get me out of here?”
