I agree, but something still doesn’t sit right. I decide to text Taylor, reminding her to have an amazing time but to check in when her flight lands.
“So gorgeous,” Emmett says, getting my attention.
He’s got a big goofy grin on his face.
“Yes?”
He reaches over and takes my hand in his, bringing it up to his lips and kissing my knuckles. He does that often now. He knows I’m working to stop my habit of squeezing my knuckles when I’m feeling too much emotion.
“How about, you and me, we go home and celebrate that I’m cancer free by laying in bed naked the rest of the day?”
I laugh and shake my head, but internally admit nothing sounds better right now.
