“Come on, babe. I think you’ve had enough for tonight.”

They both walk slightly ahead of me, giving Isaac the opportunity to speak at my back.

“There was a rumor that you were in town, but I didn’t quite believe it. It’s nice to see you all grown up, Little Flower.” His voice slides down my neck like fresh mud, but I keep moving. “I do hear that the library can be interesting these days.”

Thankfully, I’m not facing him so he can’t see my reaction to his words. Instead, I pretend like I didn’t hear him at all. When we get to the front door, Isaac is gone, and I can’t fly down the stairs fast enough.

As soon as we’re back in the limo, I grab an empty ice bucket and throw up.

“Jesus, Eves. How much did you drink?” Taylor says as Celeste moves to sit at my side and rub my back.

Not enough, Taylor. Not nearly enough.

“Evelyn!” Caleb shouts. “Get your ass out here right now,” he roars, but I roll over in my bed and cover my face with a pillow instead.

He continues to scream my name, and I hear him stomping down the hall. He’s clearly upset. I grab my knife, sit up, and straighten my shirt, toying with the blade in my hand.

“I’m sorry, Evie. He just pushed his way in!” Celeste yells behind him.

I’m sure he did.Caleb doesn’t understand the word ‘no’ sometimes.

Caleb bangs on my bedroom door, but I don’t move to get up. A second later, my door is flying off its hinges as Caleb busts through it. His eyes blaze with rage. I smile sweetly while stretching my arms like I’m just waking up.

I scrunch my nose. “You really need to learn to rein in your temper. Can you turn it down a notch?”

He opens his hands like he wants to strangle me and then clenches them into fists. He does it a few more times, like he can’t decide if he’s going to strangle me or try to talk to me.

Sigh.

“Nothing happened,” I assure him.

Sounds bleed through the hallway, alerting me to moreguests.

“Let’s bring this out to the living room,” I deadpan. “I don’t need all of you in here.”

I pull off my blankets and start walking towards the door. He forcefully grabs my arm.

“Can you at least put some fucking clothes on?” he growls.

I look down at my sleep shorts and thin t-shirt.

“I am wearing clothes,” I say, lifting up the material covering my shoulder. “This is called a t-shirt.”

Caleb pinches the bridge of his nose and growls to himself as I walk out of the room. Celeste hands me a cup of coffee, and we both face a room full of very angry men.

“You are in trouble,” she whispers in a melody, and I nod my head knowingly.

Scanning the eyes that are staring back at me, I land on Taylor.

“You didn’t have to tell them,” I say.

He scowls. “You played me.”

“I didn’t. Celeste had a great time.”

Celeste snorts. “Don’t put this on me.”
