“Evie!” she shouts and squeezes my body like her life depends on it as soon as she reaches me.

“Cele, it’s okay. I’m okay.”

“I’m so sorry! I shouldn’t have left you,” she cries.

I rub her head, trying to calm her down, when Caleb, Micah, and Taylor finally make their way to us, small suitcases in hand. Taylor tries to pull Celeste off me, but she won’t let go.

“It’s okay, Taylor. Just let her get it out.” I smile wryly.

Caleb immediately goes to Elijah. “Is it all in order?”

Elijah glares at him. “Do I look like an idiot?”

Micah raises an eyebrow. “Well… since you asked…”

Elijah whips his head to Micah. “Grow up,” he deadpans, but there’s no bite to his words.

The two of them give each other slim smiles, and just like that, all is forgiven. Micah walks to my back to usher Celeste and me to the dorms when the doors fling open.

“Bitch, you have some nerve showing your face here,” Genna spits out, stalking forward.

At her back, a group of Zeta Sigma Rho sisters pile out of the doorway.

“We don’t allow murderers at this school,” she continues, raising her chin, and I freeze.

Does she know?

My gaze darts to Elijah, but he subtly shakes his head, and I have no choice other than to trust him.

Genna walks closer, with her entourage in tow.

“You leave this campus right now before I call the cops… again.”

My nostrils flair, and the tiny hairs on the back of my neck rise on end.I’m done with this bitch.

I forcefully hand Celeste to Taylor and start walking to Genna. Micah stands in front of me, blocking my way. I sidestep him, but he follows.

Elijah bumps his shoulder against mine and speaks in my ear.

“Not here, Eve. Don’t let her get to you.”

“Fuck that bitch,” I shout loud enough for everyone to hear. “She set me up.”

Genna smirks like she’s won. “Classless nobody. Whoring yourself out will only get you so far,” she continues.

Caleb stands to his full height, broadening his chest. “Enough, Genna.”

Her head snaps to him and her eyes narrow. “You're not king anymore, Caleb, but I am still queen. Your brother is ten times the man that you are.”

Caleb’s hearty laugh rumbles through the courtyard. “Oh, that’s rich. Sloppy seconds and bastard children are a match made in heaven. But let’s get a few things straight. He isnotmy brother, and I am still king.”

I try to push my way around Micah, but Elijah grabs my waist, holding me back. Micah puts a hand over my mouth.

“Goddammit, Evelyn. I said, not here,” Elijah growls.

I yell at her, but my words are muffled by Micah’s hand. This time, though, I will not back down. This bitch has had free rein for the last two years, and it’s about time someone knocks her off her fucking high horse.

Ignoring Caleb, Genna redirects her attention back to me. “Look at me, you lowlife piece of trash. You were the biggest mistake of his life. Just know that when they lose everything—and I do mean everything—it will be because of you.”
