“I might just take you up on the apartment offer,” she says with a grin. “But enough about me. We’re here to talk business, remember. Show me!”

I chuckle, grabbing the box that’s been in my pocket since I picked it up a week ago.

Bella inhales sharply. “Oh, Less, it’s perfect. Why a daisy? I thought her favorite flowers were orchids.”

I glance at the custom ring in the black velvet: a platinum band with a flower stem rolled up around it, and diamond petals in the middle, though the center is a bright ruby.I considered a yellow sapphire, but red is her favorite color; and she’ll never remove it again once it’s her finger, so might as well make sure it matches her style.

“That’s a secret, brat. How’s everything looking over there?”

“Stop stressing out. Mom has the entire catering staff crying, but they’re ready—and your mother has terrorized half of the county, but there isn’t a force alive who’ll stop you from saying ‘I do’ on Sunday.”

I exhale.

I’m not really stressing out about the wedding as such, but there’s no denying that there has been a fair bit of tension the last few days on Ivy’s part. Maybe she’s getting jitters. I’m not. I’ve been ready to marry that girl since before I could write a whole sentence.

I should just ask what’s going on—we have been great at talking recently—but usually, I don’t have to; she just tells me her thoughts, and I share mine.

Having to probe can’t be good.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Nic’s picking you up at the airport,” she reminds me before hanging up.

It’ll all be fine. Even if Ivy wants to play the runaway bride again, I’ll just lasso her ass and drag her to the altar.

“How was your last day?” I hear from the lounge before I’ve even set the flowers my team bought me down on the counter of the regal entryway.

“Great,” I say, a little too high pitched.

In truth, my last day stopped six hours ago. The flowers got a little wilted in the meantime.

I’ve only just placed them when my prince is by my side, helping me out of my raincoat.

I tilt my head, and he obliges, offering me a kiss on the nose, before taking my mouth.

The last six months have truly been enchanted. A picture-perfect fairy tale. I’ve kind of been waiting for the other shoe to drop, really. Or for someone to wake me up, announcing I’ve been in a coma and made up this entire thing.

But although I’m back from the hospital, it wasn’t for anything that dramatic.

“What’s for dinner? I’m eating for two.”

“I figured we’d call in. We don’t want leftovers in the fridge as we’re leaving tomorrow, right?” Less replies. “Indian and a bottle of wine?”

“I’ll have to leave the wine to you.As I’m eating for two.”

He drops my jacket. Not on its hook—on the floor. “What?”

If I were a little less nervous, I’d likely think about a way to tell him, prepare him for this mess. I’d make dinner and share the news after dessert. But it was hard enough to hide it over the last week, after pissing on half a dozen sticks.

I got on the pill in January, of course, but apparently, Less has some strong-ass swimmers.

“No.”

I wince. “Yes. I had it checked today. I didn’t want to alarm you in case it—”

I can’t finish my sentence, because I’m up in the air, twirling around so fast there’s a high chance I will vomit.

When Alessandro finally drops me down to my feet, he kneels in front of me, and presses his face against my flat—for now—tummy.

“And Hawk wasn’t even there,” he gloats, directly to my belly.

Because I never miss an opportunity to fuck with my future husband, I wink. “Don’t worry, I’m sure he won’t mind helping with the next one.”

The end.
