I’m not talking. None of my guys will. The club always protects our business. Fuck the rest of the world.

“My own room, right?” Her slim finger comes out and pokes me in the chest and I cross my heart like I’m a fucking five-year-old.

“Absolutely. Yours. And it’s got a lock on the door so you can lock it from the inside.”

“No key?” Her brow quirks and I almost laugh.

She’s sharp. She may look young but she’s no pushover.

“No key.”

“Fine,” she mutters, her fingers practically knotting in the strap of her backpack, nervously twisting at it.

I smirk at her. “Great. Let’s get you something to eat first.” I eye her slight figure. “You look like you could blow away in a stiff breeze.”

She nods, her back stiff, following me back inside my garage. Her blue eyes dart back and forth like a little animal. “What is this place?”

“My garage. Petrol. That’s my name too by the way.”

“Petrol?” She shoots me a strange look. “That’s a weird name.”

There’s a lot of weird things out there. My name probably the least of them. The reason for it is something I’m not telling her right now.

I burn shit to the ground to clean up messes. Sometimes literally. It’s what I do.

And if she’s got a mess I need to clean up, I’ll burn the whole damn world down to make sure this little slip of a girl is safe.

“What’s your name?”

I can see her thinking if she should tell me or not. But eventually she just sighs like it’s too much hassle to worry about it.

“Adeline. But you can call me Addie.”

I lead her into my garage where the guys are already hard at work and smirk when her sky-blue eyes widen at the size of it. The way it hums like a well-oiled machine. “Well, Addie. Welcome to Petrol.”

CHAPTER3

Adeline

“Are you sure that it’s alright for me to order the extra?” Petrol has a look on his face that almost makes me laugh if it didn’t make me a little nervous.

“I’m telling you…order whatever the hell you want, Addie. Don’t worry about it. I know some people around here will try and tell you that I’m a cheap bastard but I can afford an extra sandwich or dessert for fuck’s sake,” he huffs.

The scar on his cheek pulls taut as he growls at me and I flinch at the tone. He sighs and sits back. “Addie. I don’t know exactly who or what you’re running from but I can promise you that I won’t hurt you. I’m a grumpy bastard but I would never hurt a woman.”

“That’s…nice to hear.” I eye him closely but he just smiles and calls the waitress over yet again.

She sidles up and grins. “You guys need something else?”

Petrol nods at me and grunts, “She needs some more food.” He turns to me. “Tell her what you want.”

“Can I get an open-faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. To go?”

The waitress writes it down on an old-school notepad. “You got it, honey. I’ll be right out.”

I turn and see some people in a booth in a corner staring at me. As soon as they see me looking, they turn away and whisper to the person across from them.

Raising a brow, I whisper, “Do I have something on my face?”
