“Never.” He thinks for a moment. “It’s a car they don’t even sell anymore.”

“That’s why I’m betting you for it.”

“Do you even know how to drive a manual?” he questions.

“Of course I do,” I tell him as if I’m insulted by his valid question.

“Blondie, it’s a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTS/ NART Spider.” He looks at me as if he’s in pain.

“I know.” I smirk knowingly.

If only he knew how much I love that car.

“Okay, I agree. Only if you follow my condition of coming to all my races you have time to come to. You can’t cheat. I know your tennis schedule.”

My bet is so high stakes, yet he’s betting for more time with me.

I feel bad; his condition is so tame.

I won’t lie, I was planning on going to as many as I could even though I don’t have much time. He has more time in between races since there are only three days out of the week, but most of my tournaments take place over weeks, even months.

“Deal.” I put out my hand to shake his.

Xavier takes it as we seal his ultimate demise.

I am getting that Ferrari; I don’t care what I have to do.

Chapter50

Violetta

His pasta smells good.

Too good, and it’s messing with my head.

I feel like I’m on a cooking show.

It’s fun yet daunting knowing I have the opportunity of owning my dream car.

I stand before the gleaming countertops in this culinary battle, laughing the whole way through.

Xavier is incredibly serious but playful all the same.

We’ve both almost burned down the kitchen and Xavier gets extremely nervous at the sight of fire. He’s spilled spaghetti sauce on me and himself dozens of times just to make me laugh.

Even though he has so much on the line, he can’t help but enjoy himself all the same.

The scent of simmering sauces and freshly cooked pasta permeates the air, fueling my competitive spirit.

With each chop of the knife and measured pinch of spices, I pour my heart and soul into creating a masterpiece that will win me that beautiful red beast of a car.

I can already imagine the sleek, low-slung body of the spider that’s crafted with meticulous attention to detail, a testament to the Italian craftsmanship that Ferrari is renowned for. The deep, lustrous paint glistening under the sun, its flawless finish reflecting the world around it like a polished mirror. Whether it’s a vibrant shade of Rosso Corsa or a more subdued metallic hue, the color will accentuate the car’s graceful curves and enhance its aura of sophistication.

I’ve known a lot about Ferrari cars due to me going collectible car shopping with Ale a few times. She’s kept her eye out for the car of my dreams for years. Having never found it for the life of her.

I’ve studied every single crevice of this car.

The only person I know to own one is Xavier.
