“Oh, I know.” I let out a nervous chuckle and a little wince.

She laughs, and Vio just stands there.

This is so fucking awkward.

“I’ll see you guys later. I kind of have to go get my trophy,” I sing-song before turning my back to them and walk toward the recovery room.

My face says it all, but I shield myself from the cameras.

I just lived the most uncomfortable minutes of my life and now I have to go to dinner with the two of them.

I feel like a child knowing that Ale and Luca will be trying to make the tension between us dissipate.

It will be almost impossible.

Before I can make it inside and away from the cameras, I see Aoki talking to a pink-haired girl. It spikes my attention instantly and once he’s done talking to her, he starts walking over to me.

I attempt to distract myself if only for a few minutes.

“Who’s the pink-haired girl?” I raise my eyebrows at him, wanting to know all the details. They don’t call me the gossip drama queen for nothing.

I know everything that happens on this grid.

“She’s the person who helps me with my other job.”

Ren Aoki’s father, a previous investor in the Sansui F1 team, recently passed away. Ren was devastated and apart from that, he inherited one of the biggest video game companies in the world. His father was Japanese and his mother is Korean. Aoki Enterprises is based in Korea but has a heavy influence on Japanese tactics in the video game industry.

The last time I talked to him, he was juggling both his dream and his birthright at the same time.

“What does she do?”

“Video game cartoonist.”

“How fun!” I can’t help but ask him because I’m nosy, “Is she more than a colleague?”

“It’s complicated.”

I let out a frustrated groan. “Oh no, I can’t deal with anything complicated.” Practically whining at his words like a child, I walk away.

The thought of my complicated situation comes rushing back.

It’s sad that other people’s problems remind me of mine.

This is a curse at this point.

I can’t even enjoy gossip. What has my life come to?

Chapter53

Violetta

I’m uncomfortable.

I tried to get out of this, but of course Xavier had to insist. Which led to his girlfriend insisting, even though she was shooting me a glare from across the table.

She has to know.

Ale and Luca being here make it even more awkward.
