Well, we kind of had this intense emotional connection. He gets along great with my sisters and to be honest, I really want him to break up with you after he kissed me.

I can’t tell the truth.

But that acid-like smile gives me the urge to.

I don’t think Marrisa is as nice as everyone perceives her. At the same time, jealousy is common and healthy. She likes Xavier and most likely has suspicions.

Her speculation is incredibly valid.

Especially when her speculation is most likely correct.

But when two people are innocent of that suspicion, they most likely get defensive.

That’s what Xavier and I are most likely thinking.

I’m thinking it, Xavier is thinking it, and I wouldn’t doubt the lovely couple next to us is thinking it as well.

“I gave them my beach house in Acapulco for a few weeks,” Ale tells her.

Have I mentioned how much I love her for being a crutch in this situation?

I am well aware that Xavier and I are in the wrong.

There is no excuse for cheating and when I kissed him, I knew before that he has a girlfriend. I’m the worst type of woman and genuinely I hate myself for it.

But sometimes people fall in love at the worst time.

That’s me and Xavier encapsulated in a sentence.

“Thank you for giving Xavier a place to stay. I’m sure you know him, but I wouldn’t doubt he would have stayed in a hostel if he didn’t have anywhere to sleep.” She lets out this posh laugh that annoys me on another level.

Ugh.

Xavier is looking at me. He swallows in discomfort. His gaze is almost asking what he should say and what he shouldn’t.

He doesn’t even have to ask me; we both know what we can’t tell her.

“Your boyfriend was extremely welcoming. My sisters and I had a great time with him. I showed him around Acapulco for the first time and then he had the courtesy to invite me to Brazil. We spent the new year there before I had to go to Australia.”

“You took her to Brazil?” She looks at him in question.

The look she’s giving Xavier is one an interrogator would use on a criminal, mixed with a sense of disbelief.

“Yea.” Xavier looks calm, but I know he’s really nervous on the inside.

“Did she meet your mother?” Her eyes are angry in a way that it’s masked. But I can tell she doesn’t like me meeting what she assumes is her future mother-in-law.

“Yep.” He pops the P at the end.

“Good to know.” She looks away.

That is not something you want to hear from any woman.

“I only talked to her a few times.”

Liar.

She just nods while pursuing her lips.
