Can I bring my sisters?

He notices my wariness and continues, “You’ve opened up your family to me and showed me your home. I want to show you Brazil and since I’m on break for a few months, it would be fun. I have a tennis court in both my house in Rio De Janeiro and São Paulo. You could bring Sofia, which I doubt she’ll mind since she and my trainer are doing illicit activities behind the scenes.” He raises his eyebrows at his comment about our trainers. “You could even bring the twins. I’ve been getting along with them really well.” His tone is frantic, almost as if he’s been thinking about this for a while.

I’m definitely going to need Chanel and Cleo to put me in check. I don’t trust myself around him.

I mean, he’s clarified all my worries. Usually, my sisters and I stay in Acapulco for Christmas and New Year’s. It’s never been a big thing in our household. In the Luna family, we don’t get together often. Meaning we wouldn’t be leaving anything behind. Being in Brazil with a local sounds fun, especially since it’s Xavier.

Frick it.

“Okay,” I tell him with a small nod.

At this point in my life, I’ve decided that sometimes I just have to go with the flow. I enjoy being around Xavier, and growing my friendship with him is something I crave.

My poor little heart is going to be broken after this, isn’t it?

He has a girlfriend. Even if you spend more time with him, he’ll pick her.

I push those thoughts to the back of my mind as I see Xavier’s eyes light up. This might be something purely platonic and maybe at times flirty, but that’s all it will stay.

He jumps on me and hugs me; his excitement is clear.

“Blondie, you won’t regret this! I will show you everything you need to see in Brazil!”

I smile at his comment. I can’t help my excitement either. I’ve only ever been to Brazil for the tennis open. This time I’ll be going for leisure instead of work.

“When do we leave?” I ask him.

“Tomorrow. Once we get back to the house, I’ll book the flights.”

My brain starts going haywire. Why so soon? I have to go back to my apartment in Mexico City to get my passport.

We’re going to have to drive back tonight, and I hate driving on the highway at night.

“Okay, well, we’re going to have to drive back tonight then.”

He nods eagerly.

“You can crash at my place and then in the morning we’ll be at the airport.”

“Perfect!” he exclaims.

“What’s perfect?” Cleo comes up behind us abruptly with a groggy Chanel behind her.

“We’re going back to Mexico City today,” I tell her.

“Why?”

I hesitate, but I’m going to have to tell her. “We’re going to Brazil with Xavier,” I tell them.

“¿Que?” Both Cleo and Chanel say at the same time. It’s as if Chanel wakes up instantly, both of their expressions covered in shock.

“Surprise!”
