“Violetta,” I respond.

“What a beautiful name. Alexandre Braga,” he tells me, holding out his hand for me to shake. His name registers in my brain. I swear I’ve heard that name before, but I can’t quite place from where.

“Nice to meet you.” I let out before I put my hand in his.

Our hands shake softly, and his face moves from stone cold to a smile. Wow, this man is really sexy and in a very conventional way. If I were Violetta from a few weeks ago, I would have melted from a single look.

But I’m not that version of myself anymore. His type of beauty has lost its appeal.

I realize that the only person I have eyes for at that moment is Xavier.

This drool-worthy man is sitting in front of me, and I don’t even bat an eyelash.

What is wrong with me?

At the same time, this may be exactly what I need.

“The pleasure is all mine.” He lifts the top of my hand and kisses it. He lets go of my hand, softly caressing it before fully letting go.

The first time Xavier and I met flashes through my mind.

Just because he did the same thing Xavier did when we met, doesn’t mean Xavier has the right to remind me of himself unintentionally.

I try to refocus my attention on Alexandre but fail.

“What do you do for a living, Violetta?” he questions.

The bartender comes back with my drinks. I take the water bottle and hold it in my hands, leaving Chanel’s drinks on the bar. She’ll come to get them sooner or later.

“I’m a tennis player,” I respond.

“How thrilling.” He quirks an eyebrow.

“And you, what is your choice of making a living?” I try to keep the conversation going. This might be the only conversation I have tonight, so why not make the most of it?

“I’m a businessman,” he replies readily.

I nod before I see him gaze behind me.

“Are you not going to drink those?” he questions.

“No, they’re for my sister.” I notice Chanel walking over. “Actually, here she comes right now.”

Stalking over in a fast-paced stride, Chanel stops in front of me. “They must be stopped,” she tells me in Spanish before motioning toward Cleo and Xavier with her hand.

I let out a chuckle and watch them dancing in bliss. Chanel glances behind me to find her drinks and lets out a satisfying sound. Grabbing both glasses with two hands, she takes a sip of one. “Thanks, sis.” She walks away toward a small circular black table that is within the vantage point of Cleo and Xavier having the time of their lives.

I turn my shoulder to face Alexandre. He’s staring at me.

My eyebrow rises in question.

Next thing I know, he swipes away a single hair from blocking my eyes. It’s a simple thing, yet it makes my face turn a shade of crimson.

He chuckles at my reaction.

“You’re cute when you blush,” he tells me and my mind immediately goes to Xavier.

AGAIN!
