“Yet I wander the neighborhood sampling others’ love. Explain that to me, Ms. Lister.”

“There are much simpler words to describe that aspect of you, Michelle.” Candace turned away, recalling her hand to her side. “Words I’d rather not utter in a fine place like this.”

“Would you, though, if we were in bed together?”

“I’d call you a whore every day of the week if you were mine.”

Without another crass word, Candace left Mitch to her private corner. The server returned to silently collect the dishes, head down and hands slightly shaking.

Mitch had to collect herself before leaving. That was…She had almost lost what made her human at that moment. She didn’t merely tread the fine line between two identities… she tepidly toyed with the veneer between human and beast. A base creature such as herself could get hurt or hurt the ones she cared for most.

Vanessa…

“You’re good,” the waitress whispered.

Mitch finally acknowledged her. “Excuse me?”

Dishes meticulously piled into one stack, the waitress backed away, her bangs barely obscuring her eyes. “I’ve interacted with her countless times, and she barely remembers me. I don’t think she could forget you.” She hesitated before escaping with her dirty dishes. “I wish I could be more like you.”

Mitch exhaled the breath that had claimed every inch of her lungs. Although the weight was worth losing, she couldn’t stop thinking about Candace … or what the waitress had said.

It worked.Mitch had done what she set out to do, to hell with her personal safety.

She went straight home and marched directly into Vanessa’s office, where her partner typed on the laptop opened in front of her dual monitor setup on the desk.

“Are you all right?” That was the first thing out of Vanessa’s mouth when she noted the whites of her other half’s eyes.

Mitch snapped the laptop lid shut, nearly missing Vanessa’s fingers by a mere centimeter. She turned the office chair until she had plenty of room to hoist herself into Vanessa’s lap, her lips crashing against the most vulnerable inch of her Mistress’s throat.

Vanessa said nothing. She merely listened.

“Don’t ask me why,” Mitch gasped between harried kisses, her whole body sweating, on fire. “Punish me.”

Vanessa pressed into Mitch’s rear, about to tear the fabric away from her hips. “What?”

“I deserve it.” Mitch ground her pelvis against Vanessa’s lap, every fiber of her body begging them both to be on the couch and already in the throes of passion. “Please, Mistress.”

Vanessa stilled her pet with a single fingertip to the lips. “How do I punish you without knowing what you’ve done?”

“You don’t need to know.” Mitch inhaled that finger into her mouth, tongue dipping into the webbing between Vanessa’s digits. “Spank me until I come.”

“That’s not punishment, my dear. That’s pleasure.”

“Please. Make it hurt.”

Vanessa pulled her hand out of Mitch’s mouth and held her still by the chin. Her wet hand dug deeply into the contours of her beloved’s face. “You’re wearing makeup.”

“Yes. Punish me.”

“Why are you dolled up?”

Mitch closed her eyes and imagined they were in their room, embracing the deepest, darkest parts of their desires. The places she has taken me…Mitch would do anything to protect those moments. She would doanythingto protect Vanessa. Even go straight into the lioness’s dangerous den.

If one of them were to be punished for their kinks, let it be Mitch. She would always get off on it, anyway.

“Because I’m a whore,” Mitch whispered.

Vanessa released the tension wrapped around her pet’s jaw. Mitch unveiled a shaking breath that unraveled her from the inside. Her clothes melted away from her body. Her fears were hers to share, and her vulnerability was Vanessa’s to master.
