“What about Jagger and Gunner?” she asked.

His smile was mean, and she suddenly wished she hadn’t asked. “The guys are taking care of them. But I told the cops to go to the bar too, just to keep Maverick from killing them. My brother has anger issues.”

“I picked up on that,” she teased. “Is this nightmare really over?” she asked. He finished freeing her and pulled her into his arms. Tilly felt safe for the first time since he left her.

“It is,” he agreed. “And this time, Nate here will go away for a long time. He won’t get out of it again. We have the proof that we need to put him, Jagger, and Gunner, away for the rest of their lives, now that we can add kidnapping and attempted murder to the list of charges that they are facing.”

“Good,” she breathed. Tilly had so many questions that she wanted to ask next, but she wasn’t sure where to begin. The biggest question she had was what happened between the two of them next. She had been living with Owen for so long now, she wasn’t sure that she even had an apartment to go home to.

“I guess it’s safe for me to go home then,” she whispered.

“Tilly, I need to tell you something,” he said. She held her breath and nodded, preparing herself for the worst. “I had to let your apartment go a few months ago. You weren’t paying rent and well, I asked your landlord to pack up your stuff and put it into storage for you.”

“You did?” she asked. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I didn’t want you to feel trapped. I wanted you to think that you had choices and that you’d actually chose to be with me.” She would have always chosen him, not that she had told him that yet.

“Owen, I want to be with you,” she said. “I would have chosen you.”

“You would have?” he asked.

“Of course. You could have told me about my apartment,” she insisted. “I would have understood.”

“There’s so much that I haven’t told you, Tilly,” he breathed.

“There’s more?” she asked.

“Yeah,” he whispered.

“Like what?” she asked.

“Like the fact that I’m in love with you and want you to be my wife,” he blurted out. Tilly couldn’t help the warm tears that spilled down her face as she quickly nodded her agreement. “Is that a yes?” he asked.

“It’s a yes,” she agreed. “But are you sure?”

“When I realized that tonight’s meeting was a setup, I couldn’t think about anything that I wanted more. I wanted to get home to you to make sure that you were safe and when I found that asshole here, I wanted to kill him, I really did. But I knew that if I went to prison, I couldn’t marry the woman of my dreams.”

“That’s me, right?” she sobbed.

“That’s you,” he agreed. “I want to spend my life with you, Tilly.”

“Well, that works for me,” she agreed, “because I’d like to spend the rest of my life with you, Owen.” He picked her up and spun around with her as the cops came in through the back door that he had left open.

“We’re back here,” he shouted. “The guy who broke in is out cold.” He pointed to Nate who was still lying on the floor, never letting go of Tilly. That worked for her because she wasn’t ever going to be letting Owen go again either. She had finally found her Prince Charming disguised as a sexy-as-sin biker and for the first time in her life, she felt like the lucky one. Stealing that hard drive was the best mistake she had ever made, followed closely by deciding to hide away in a biker bar. All her past mistakes led her to Owen, and that made her the luckiest woman on the planet.

Tilly

Prologue

Tilly wasn’t sure how she was going to tell Owen that she was pregnant, but her time was running out. She was starting to show and there were only so many ways to hide her little bump from the man who saw her naked every day. Tonight was the night—she was going to finally tell him. Just as soon as he got home from meeting with Maverick about becoming his business partner in the security firm that he was building. Maverick had expressed interest in working with Owen part-time, but he was hoping to convince him to come in as a full partner.

He walked in through the back door and tossed his truck keys on the counter, just as he had most nights. “You’re home early,” she said.

“Yeah well, that’s because my brother is an asshole,” Owen grumbled. “The big oaf will only commit to part-time working with me, even with buying in as a full partner. He said that he doesn’t want to give up his bike shop, even though I know that he doesn’t really love what he does anymore. He started that shop after our mother died. It put a roof over our heads and food in our bellies, but he loves security work, he’s just too stubborn to admit it.”

“I’m sorry,” Tilly said, rethinking her plan to tell him about the baby. They had only been married for a month now, and she didn’t realize she was pregnant, but she was about three months along. Her doctor told her that the signs were all there, but she was just ignoring them. She was nauseous and had missed periods, but with everything going on with her ex-boss, Nate, she didn’t pick up on all the signs.

She didn’t realize that she was crying until Owen wiped away a tear from her cheek. “You want to tell me what’s going on or should I tell you?” he asked.
