“Got it,” she breathed, “and, thanks, Blade. I appreciate you looking into this for me.”

“Not a problem,” he said. “That’s what big brothers are for.” Blade ended the call and looked over to find Trixie smiling back at him. “What?” he asked.

“See, you are a good guy,” she taunted.

“I am not,” he grumbled as if she had called him a bad name. Blade walked away to the sound of Trixie giggling at him, and he couldn’t help his smile. Yeah—he was in deep with her and there was no hope for him. That much was clear.

Trixie

Trixie worried that the truth was going to have to come out sooner than she planned, but if Bruce was stalking Wren now, she’d have no choice but to come clean with both Blade and his sister about knowing him. She had come close to telling Blade a few times, but the silent treatment that he was giving her made her crazy. Every time she opened her mouth to tell Blade the truth, she ended up closing it again, determined to give him back his same medicine. Sure, that made her just as much a child as he was acting, but Trixie didn’t care. Two could play at Blade’s game.

They pulled up to Wren’s townhome and Blade ordered her to stay in his truck, lock herself in, and not to get out until he cleared the property. She wanted to tell him to go to hell, but Trixie needed his help, and he was just trying to keep her safe, no matter how much his direct orders pissed her off. She watched him as he walked the perimeter of the townhome, making sure that all was clear. He looked over the security camera at Wren’s front door and shook his head. Whatever he had found didn’t seem to please him and when Blade walked over to his truck and barked the order for her to get out and follow him into Wrens, she knew that she had assessed his mood correctly.

“You know, you could be a little bit nicer to me,” Trixie grumbled as she hopped down from his truck. “You get more flies with honey.” That was one of her grandmother’s favorite sayings and one that she used frequently.

“I’m not trying to get any flies, Trixie,” he said. “I’m trying to keep you safe and now, I’m afraid that your stalker is coming after my sister.”

“Shit,” Trixie said. “What are we going to do?”

“Well, you’re going to go in with Wren and sit quietly while I make a few phone calls to some of the guys in my club. If I’m going to keep both of you safe, I’m going to need some help,” Blade said.

“Why not just bring Wren back to your place with us?” she asked. It made sense to her. Blade could just protect them both. Plus, it would give her the buffer that she was hoping for. Having Wren around would keep her from making a huge mistake and finally admitting that she has feelings for Blade. Honestly, she had from the time she was a young girl. Telling Blade that she wanted him would end up with them both making the biggest mistakes of their lives and Trixie possibly losing her best friend. She couldn’t let that happen and having Wren around twenty-four-seven would help with that.

“Because putting the two of you in the same place will only make your stalker’s job easier. He won’t stop trying to get to you both. He made that very clear when he cut the cord to Wren’s security cameras. He isn’t going to stop until he gets what he wants. Putting the two of you in the same place will give him what he wants. I think I’m going to need to keep you both apart and get some of the guys to give me a hand.” Trixie worried that Blade would pawn her off on one of his friends and bring Wren home with him. She wouldn’t be able to blame him for doing that. Wren was his top priority and had been his whole life. That was the way it should be too. Wren was his little sister and Blade would keep her safe at all costs.

She followed Blade into Wren’s townhouse and pulled her best friend into a big bear hug. “Are you okay?” Trixie asked.

“I’m fine,” Wren croaked. Trixie could tell that her friend was shaken by this morning’s happenings.

“You’re not fine,” Blade growled. “Someone cut the wires to your security cameras. That’s why you couldn’t view the feed live. I’m hoping that the cameras picked up whoever did this, but I’ll need to look back through the saved footage. In the meantime, I’m going to call in a few favors and get a few guys from the Royal Bastards over here to help me out. You two need to stay put and behave,” he said, pointing at the both of them as if they were children.

“Yes, Daddy,” Trixie teased. Blade cleared his throat, and she looked him over. He looked a bit flustered and if she wasn’t mistaken, the big biker was blushing—actually blushing.

He pointed at his sister, effectively ignoring Trixie. “You can’t stay here,” he said. “Pack a bag and I’ll figure out what I’m going to do with you as soon as the guys get here.”

“You can’t do that to me, Blade. My office is here, and my boss won’t be happy if I don’t show up to work every day—even if it is only virtually. I’m not like Trixie, I can’t work anywhere as long as I have my cell phone.” Wren was an accountant. She had always been a wiz with numbers, and she loved working from home. Trixie sometimes found her own work isolating since she could work anywhere from her cell phone. As a social media influencer, her life looked a whole lot more exciting than it actually was. Most of it was staging that she did from her condo, but Wren was right, she could work anywhere.

“We’ll move your office for you too, but you won’t be staying here. I’m betting that Trixie’s stalker—what’s his name again?” he asked.

“Bruce,” Trixie said.

“Yeah, I’m betting that this Bruce asshole was the one who cut your security feed, and staying here won’t be safe,” Blade said.

“I can’t just pick up my office and leave Blade,” Wren countered. “I have two laptops and a desktop computer. You can’t move that stuff to your place easily,” she said. Trixie’s heart dropped when Wren mentioned moving into Blade’s place.

“You’re not staying with me,” he said. “I’m going to have you stay with one of the guys. I’ve already told Trixie that putting the two of you together would only make you both prey to the asshole stalking you. He’d have easy access and I won’t make this game he’s playing any easier on him.”

“Blade, be serious,” she insisted.

“I’m being very serious,” he said. “In fact,” he said, holding up his cell phone, “I just finished texting Savage about sending over one of the guys from the club. You will stay with one of the guys from my club until I can figure out what to do about this mess. And you,” he said, pointing at Trixie, “will sit down and tell me everything you can remember about your encounter with this guy at the club. I need to figure out how he found both your place and my sister’s.” She knew that her time for keeping secrets was up. Once she sat down and told Blade everything, she’d have to tell him that she had known Bruce since before the club. That she had led him on and then, left him cold. She was going to have to tell him everything and then, he’d move her out of his house and move his sister in. That would probably be for the best too, but it would still hurt like hell when it happened.

“Fine, but I’d like to talk to both of you about Bruce if that’s okay with you,” she said to Blade. If she was going to spill her guts, she wanted to get it all out at once and not have to repeat herself.

“You want to talk to both of us?” Wren asked. “Is there something that you haven’t already told me, Trixie?” She knew that her best friend was going to be disappointed in her, but it was now or never.

“Works for me,” Blade said. “Savage is sending Yonkers over from the club. He’ll make sure that you have someplace safe to stay, Wren. He’ll be here in about ten minutes.” Trixie nodded and sat down on Wren’s pink velvet sofa, making herself more comfortable. Blade and Wren settled in the chairs across from her, leaving her feeling completely alone. Maybe that was best because what she was about to tell them might have them leaving her completely alone for good.

“Go on, Trixie,” Wren prompted.
