“I had no doubt. I’ve known since the day we met that you were going to be my friend forever, and then we got older and I wanted more. I’ve always known even if I didn’t have the words to explain it.”

“You did, omega mine. You did know. It was me who missed the signs.” He held me tighter. “But not anymore.”

“No. Not anymore.”

We were quiet. Nicholas nuzzled into my neck and his breath tickled my skin. I shut my eyes and enjoyed the feel of him. It was peaceful. Perfect. Our first time might be in a cheap hotel room, but I didn’t hate it.

“So, weird question… how long are we stuck together like this?” I asked after a moment. The cum had dried on my stomach, and I was more than ready for a shower.

“Stuck together? I prefer to think of it as bonding time.”

“How long is bonding time then, because someone here gave me a work out and I could use a glass of water.”

“I don’t know. I’ve never knotted anyone before. Next time we’ll have to keep a water bottle handy.”

“Next time. I love the sound of that.” I settled in, not wanting this time to be over even if I had teased about the water. I’d been more curious than anything. And still was. “Does that mean no quickies?”

“I’m pretty sure we can figure out a way to make quickies work. Is that what you are into, omega mine?”

“With you, alpha mine,” I copied his words, “With you I am into everything. Thank you for coming here tonight and taking time away from your family and Christmas and all of that. It means a lot.”

“You, Christopher, you are my family. There is no place I would rather be than here with you.”

“That works for me since there is no place I would rather be than here in your arms, Nicholas. I know we have things to figure out logistically, but I don’t think I can live apart from you.”

“Shhh, omega.” Another kiss to my mating marks, one, then the other. “I couldn’t bear it either, and we will figure it all out.”

Please let his words be true.

Chapter Eleven

Nicholas

Myphonealarmwentoff far earlier than my body wanted it to. In bed with Christopher, wrapped in my arms was exactly where I wanted to be and damn anyone who tried to take that from me. Unfortunately, back at his family’s house making Christmas Eve breakfast was where we needed to be. Sadly those two were not the same.

“Make it stop,” he mumbled into the pillow. “I want to forget today even exists outside of this room.”

I did too, but I knew Christopher, and how much what his family did for Christmas had always meant to him. Missing Christmas Eve breakfast wouldn’t be the right way to start this relationship.

“Five minute snooze.” I kissed his temple. “And then I’m getting in the shower. I’d prefer to not have to wash my own back, but the choice is yours.”

He was up before the snooze went off again. I wasn’t going to waste the precious minutes we had before we had to leave sleeping—not when I could be exploring his body instead.

The lack of decent hot water assured us that we had plenty of time. I pulled on my jeans and walked over to the window, pulling over the curtains. It had snowed, the sun coming up and glistening off of the fallen snow. It was stunning. A fairytale wonderland of snow.

“I’m going to go and dig out the car. Leave in ten?” I didn’t move my eyes from the window.

Christopher came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my middle and resting his chin on my shoulder. “Is it awful I sort of wish that we had three feet of snow and no way to get to our families?”

I turned in his arms to face him. “I wouldn’t be sad if that were the case.” I kissed him. “But since it’s not, let me get the car ready so we can make breakfast for your family. I’ll check in with my mom and make sure they don’t need anything.”

“I can clean off the car.” This time he kissed me, and by the time our mouths broke apart I could barely remember my name, much less what I was agreeing to.

Christopher went out to scrape the car and I stood in front of the full length mirror, pulling my shirt collar to the side, making my mating mark visible. Christopher had marked me—a human, his instincts so strong that he did it without hesitation. I ran my fingers along the still not quite healed flesh. It didn’t quite have the same feel to it as when my mate had touched it.

Christopher was mine. If only I had snuck back home back then…. all the time we lost. But we wouldn’t lose any more. Now that he was mine, I would make sure of that.

I grabbed the motel key and went out to meet Christopher, who was dancing as he brushed off the car. He had a stocking cap pulled over his ears and I wondered if a Santa hat would be more appropriate.
