“I missed you just as much.”

He moved his leg and grimaced.

Worried, I got up. “Where is your medication?”

“In my bag. But I left it in the car.”

Leaning in and brushing a kiss to his cheek, I released his hand. “I’ll go get it. Where are your keys?”

“Dining room table.”

Archer had always taken care of me and Everleigh, making sure we had everything we needed. That he didn’t even protest at me getting his bag told me all I had to know about how bad his pain was.

After grabbing the bag from the back seat, I set it down next to him on the couch. I kneeled in front of him, putting my hands on his knees, needing to touch him. “Why didn’t you take them earlier?”

He fished out a small square packet and swallowed the pills dry, then leaned back on the couch. “They make me drowsy, which is why I avoid taking them and stick with over-the-counter painkillers as much as I can. But they don’t always work.”

“Let’s get you into bed, then. Sitting up on the couch all night wouldn’t have helped.”

I led him to one of two doors in the small cottage. The bedroom was light and had everything I needed. A bed, a nightstand, and a closet. The bathroom was across the small hall.

My bed was unmade, the sheets half hanging off the side. Making the bed had seemed like too much effort when I was the only one setting eyes on my messy bedroom. And I was constantly tired from working. Which I would be doing again in a few short hours.

At least I would if I still had a job. Something I had to figure out soon. But first I wanted to make sure Archer was comfortable.

I fluffed up the pillows, then picked up the blanket, spreading it back over the bed. “It’s all yours.”

He pulled the covers back and sat down on the edge, his focus on me. “Lie down with me?”

Nodding, I climbed into the bed, settling my head on his shoulder, his arms surrounding me. Our legs tangled, and my hand was resting on his abs.

How I’ve missed him.

His breathing slowed down, and he was fast asleep a few minutes later. My eyes drifted shut not long after.

I came awake with a moan, the noise startling me enough to force my eyes open. At first, I wasn’t sure what was going on. My body was tingling from head to toe, my hands fisted in the sheets.

Archer’s head was buried between my legs, his hands on my ass, holding me to him. The sight was enough to make me arch into him with need.

My body floated in bliss, trembling with emotions. Desire flooded me like a wave, crashing over me. I mumbled incoherently, and my hands went to Archer’s head, holding him to me, grinding into him.

It didn’t take long for me to soar over the edge, the orgasm taking me to a place only Archer could.

Collapsing on the bed, I blinked at him. I loved waking up like this. Something Archer had clearly figured out.

He crawled up my body, his hands and mouth touching and kissing every inch of my skin along the way. “You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

He softly pressed his lips to mine. But I wanted more than a chaste kiss, especially after the way I’d woken up. I buried one hand in his hair, the other going around his back, pulling him closer until his chest brushed my stiff nipples.

I was still wearing my top, but the rest of my clothes were gone. I tipped my head back, and Archer took my mouth in a deep kiss, his tongue tracing my lips, seeking entry I only too willingly granted.

Drawing him closer, he nudged my entrance, then pushed in ever so slowly, making my whole body shudder.

He gripped my leg, pulling it up high, hitting a new angle. I met each of his gentle thrusts, the surge of need overpowering.

Warmth radiated through me, telling me I was already close again. His lips met mine in a hungry kiss, his movements growing faster and less refined. Euphoria seeped into every pore of my body and another orgasm swept through me, making me tremble with satisfaction and love.
