Returning to Logic, his eyes focused steadily on mine before he turned and looked at Sunny, blinking twice.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood.

That was enough for me.

Someone unwanted was here.

“Reaper,” I growled. “Call Jesse to you.”

Not waiting around for him to figure it out, I got to my feet and headed over to Sunny as our daughter ran over to me. Quickly picking Soleil up, I walked over to Wraith handing him my daughter.

“Get them inside,” I ordered, as Wraith immediately went on alert.

“Solomon?”

Shaking my head, I smiled down at the love of my life before kissing her lips. “Go with Wraith, baby. He will protect you.”

Not waiting, Wraith took Sunny’s hand and walked towards the house as if nothing was wrong. Standing there in the open, I watched as Reaper handed off Jesse to Sunny, quickly kissing his forehead, before they entered the house.

The second they were inside, Reaper walked over to me with Phantom, who looked ready to kill.

Standing in broad daylight , the surrounding silence was deafening. The sounds of hammers, saws, and laughter ceased as brothers slowly moved off in different directions as if they finished for the day. Hawk and Bullseye headed our way.

“What is it?” Phantom asked, carefully scanning the area.

“Unwanted visitor,” I muttered.

“How do you know?” Reaper asked.

“Because I trained my son to notice everything,” Hawk said, stepping up beside me. “Where?”

“I don’t know. Logic blinked twice. Indigo walked into the woods. Ravage entered the clubhouse.”

“Where is Logic now?”

“Over by the back corner of the clubhouse. Near the woodpile. He’s smoking a cigarette.”

“Shit,” Hawk cursed as I heard a branch snap to my left and that was all I needed as I took off running in that direction. I didn’t need to look behind me to know that they were following.

The second I took off I knew Logic was on the move.

Hurrying through the trees, I headed in the direction I heard the branch snap as birds took flight. Whoever was there wasn’t welcome.

The sound of a quick whistle stopped me dead in my tracks, as it sounded three more times before stopping. Turning right, I ran for all I was worth as the first gunshot rang out.

Muffled almost as if underground, I turned to find Reaper beside me, his blades out as he gripped them tightly.

Another muffled gunshot whispered through the trees.

“Something isn’t right,” Reaper muttered. “There’s nothing out here. We’re just chasing our tails.”

That’s when the realization hit me.

It’s what they wanted.

Us away from the houses and compound.

A scream echoed all around us.
