“Then move here,” Solomon muttered as he slowly opened his eyes and looked at me. “Hi, Sunshine.”

Five days later, I sighed, hiding my smile as my husband huffed impatiently, waiting for his release papers.

“Solomon, be patient. The doctor will be here when he gets here.”

After he woke, the doctors ran a battery of tests, and three days later, they said he was fit to go home, as long as he took it easy and rested. Of course, when Hawk, Wraith, Reaper, and Bullseye laughed, the doctor decided to keep him for two more days to make sure, which pissed Solomon off.

In the end, I had to beg him to stay, which he reluctantly agreed.

Now it was release day and he was ready to get the hell out of here.

“Logic told me that Indigo found some land just north of San Francisco that Hawk might like.”

Solomon huffed grumpily.

“If Hawk buys the land, they would only be forty minutes away.”

He frowned.

“Also, Wraith is thinking of buying some property close to the Oregon border.”

He groaned, laying his head back on his pillow.

“Soleil was very happy when her uncle told her.”

HA! He smirked.

I knew that would do it.

“The brothers finished the clubhouse. Reaper hired another crew and offered them double if they could get it done quickly. The brothers are happy to have a clubhouse to sleep in instead of those trailers. Smoke and Hangman have begun building our house. I told them nothing special, but they didn’t listen to me. Apparently, they know what they are going to build.”

He turned to look at me.

“They’re not letting you choose?”

Shaking my head. “Nope. Said it was a surprise.”

“Is Jess still here?”

“Yes,” I nodded. “She said she isn’t leaving until she knows for certain you aren’t going to do something stupid.”

Before he could respond, the doctor walked in, paperwork in hand, with a nurse following, pushing a wheelchair.

The second Solomon saw it, he got out of bed and walked out, leaving me to deal with the paperwork.

Since his release from the hospital, Solomon settled back into life as if nothing had happened. Everyone happily welcomed him home. The brothers even threw him a welcome home party, much to his horror. Before they even brought the cake out, Solomon snuck off to his treehouse, refusing to come out.

In the days that followed, the Wraith Warriors were the first to leave. Soleil was sad to see her uncle go but smiled when he told her he would be back, and they could talk on the computer until his return. Reaper and the rest of the brothers all volunteered to help them with their new clubhouse once the sale of the land went through.

Solomon refused, walking away with Soleil in his arms.

Eventually, Hawk had his talk with Solomon, which dredged up a lot of memories that Solomon had a hard time with. But in the end, it all worked out, thanks to Logic, who spent two nights in the treehouse talking with Solomon. Hawk and Indigo headed back to North Carolina, leaving Logic behind.

Even if it was only for a little while, I knew Hawk would be back. With his son now happily home where he belonged, Hawk wasn’t going to stay away.

The only one I was worried about was Emma.

The poor girl still had terrible nightmares and would wake screaming bloody murder. She only wanted Reaper, who looked worn out from lack of sleep. But the man never complained. When Logic offered his services, Reaper jumped at the chance and now Emma spent a few hours a day talking with Logic.
