All I knew was Toxic.

He was a sick bastard son-of-a-bitch, and I hated him.

I was glad he was dead. I smiled when that bullet blew out the back of his head and his evil, dark brains blew everywhere.

It was the first time in a long time I actually laughed.

Maybe I was crazy.

I didn’t know, but I knew I smiled whenever I remembered that day.

“Sandman!” Ghost bellowed from the front of the clubhouse. Ignoring him, I looked up at my Sunshine to find her staring at me. “Get the fuck in church! Reaper wants to talk to you.”

Taking a deep breath, I stood there, under my tree, and watched as she smiled down at me and lightly waved her hand as I slipped back into the shadows.

I slipped into church undetected, even though it was full of brothers. Men who were supposed to be my brothers because of the patch on the back of their cuts. If they knew the truth about me, they would take my cut and send me packing. Not that anyone cared to know anything about me. Thanks to James Doherty, I was a patched member, but that was it. Because of him, I got my freedom. I could do whatever I wanted. As soon as he handed me my cut, I hopped on a bike and fucking left. I didn’t know whose bike it was, but it was mine now.

For the longest time, I just traveled around. I didn’t really care where I went as long as the sun was on my face.

I never really took part in club shit unless I got to kill someone. I preferred being alone. It was safer that way. I wasn’t good around people. They annoyed me. Most people stayed away from me. It was better that way.

Over the years, I would pop back in, do what I did best, and then disappear as if I were never there, leaving a trail of blood and carnage behind. I didn’t claim to be anything else than what I was.

A killer.

For the longest time, the club kept my existence a secret. I was okay with that because I wanted nothing to do with the club. Now that the cat was out of the bag, Reaper and Ghost kept close tabs on me.

I didn’t mind so much. I just didn’t like being told what I could and couldn’t do. When I had enough, I left. They only needed me for one thing, anyway. No sense in sticking around if I wasn’t needed.

“Okay, this is going to be short. I just learned that Sunny has a prom next week. No one has asked her, so she isn’t going.”

“That ain’t right, Prez,” Chaos muttered.

Fucker better shut his damn mouth. He had no right talking about my Sunshine. None of them did. I tolerated Reaper because he claimed to be her brother-in-law or some shit like that. As far as I was concerned, no brother in this room was any blood relation to my Sunshine.

Therefore, I could kill them all.

“I know we have a lot on our plate right now, but I can’t let this go. Despite being dealt a shit hand, Sunny has remained a sweet and kind girl. If her parents were still alive, you bet your ass that girl would go to prom. Just because she lives in a house with a bunch of bikers doesn’t mean she should miss out. So, who is going to volunteer and take her to prom?”

I growled, stepping away from the shadows as every head turned in my direction. If any of them spoke up, I would slit their damn throats.

Chapter Five

Sunny

Everything hurt.

I didn’t understand.

I opened my eyes, hoping for a change, but the oppressive darkness persisted, casting a shadow over everything. This time, a chill hung in the air, making it colder than before. Why was it so cold? Hugging my stomach, I waded through the mist with no direction in sight. As I stood there, a chilly breeze wrapped around me, causing a shiver to run down my spine. The stillness of the surroundings emphasized the barrenness, leaving me feeling isolated. There was a sense of confusion and disorientation as if I had wandered into a never-ending labyrinth.

“Hello! Is anyone there?”

My words, much like before, evaporated into the ether as his voice reverberated through the space.“You hear that, Sunny? Jess believes in you like I do.”

“Solomon,” I whispered, just to hear my voice. “Where are you, my love?”

“Remember the night we first danced?”
