I shrugged my shoulders. I didn’t want to lie to the man. He was honest and good. Did right by his club and his community. He opened his club to me many times, giving me a place to rest my head. So, I said nothing. The big man shook his head and sighed. “Pull on up to the clubhouse. We’ll talk more inside. Prospect, let him in.”

Backing away from my truck, the iron gate opened as I drove into the Horsemen MC compound.

Seconds later, I cut the engine as Sunny asked. “Solomon, where are we?”

“Mayfield, Kentucky at the Horsemen MC.”

“I’ve heard of Mayfield, Kentucky. This is the area that was hit by an F-5 tornado right before Christmas a few years back. Destroyed half the town.”

“Yeah,” I nodded. “They are still rebuilding.”

Getting out of my truck, I walked around to the other side and helped Sunny get to her feet as I opened the backdoor, before gathering my sleeping daughter in my arms. Jax grumbled but said nothing as he got out and helped his sister.

“Family?” Colt asked, taking a better look at Sunny, Soleil, and Jax.

“Yes.”

The big man grinned. “About time, man. Let’s get those kids inside and in bed. They look worn out.”

I nodded.

“So, what brings you to my neck of the woods in the dead of night?” Colt asked, sitting across from me at a worn table in the main room of the Horsemen MC.

Sunny reached for my hand, squeezing it tightly. Pulling her closer, I kissed her forehead before turning to Colt. “We just need a place for the night. We don’t want to cause problems.”

“Ain’t no problem, Sandman,” Colt sighed as he waved his hand toward a young girl. The pretty brunette walked over, placing her hand on Colt’s shoulder. “Sandman, you weren’t around when my girl came home from school. I’d like you to meet my daughter, Scarlett. Honey, this is Sandman and his woman, Sunny.”

“It’s nice to meet you both,” the pretty girl smiled warmly.

“Scarlett, honey, would you please take Sunny and show her the room next to yours? Poor woman looks dead on her feet.”

“Sure, Dad,” the young girl smiled, before walking over to Sunny and helping her to her feet saying, “You should prop up that leg. I broke mine last year when I fell off my horse. Dad about lost his shit. How much longer before the boot comes off?”

“One more week.”

As the girls walked away, Colt informed, “Got word an hour before you showed up. You are being hunted, brother. Satan’s Angels know you’ve left Tennessee. They put the word out. They will attack any club offering you parlay.”

Getting to my feet, I muttered, “We’ll leave.”

“Sit down, Sandman. Ain’t making you leave. Just letting you know what you’re facing. My advice is to stay low to the ground and off the main roads.”

Taking my seat again, I looked around the Horsemen MC. It was a small club. Only about eight brothers, not including the prospects, and I was putting them in danger by being here. This club faced many hardships over the years. The main one was when Colt’s wife died of cancer a few years back. Teenie, Colt’s wife, was the heart of the club. It was her father who started the Horsemen MC, handing the club over to Colt when he married Teenie.

Shaking my head, I sighed. “I shouldn’t have come here.”

“You did the right thing, brother. After what you did for my woman and this club. I’ll never be able to repay that. You will always have a home with the Horsemen.”

“It was nothing.”

Colt smirked. “You paid for my woman’s cancer treatments, brother. Just dropped a wad and told the doctors to do what they had to. Gave my woman a few more months with us. Made my woman happy in her last days. For that alone, I owe you.”

“Teenie was nice to me. Just wanted to be nice to her.”

“Satan’s Angels the reason your woman hurt?”

I nodded. “Ran her off the road. Tried to kill her.”

“What’s the Golden Skulls doing about it?”
