Sam growled low and ruthless as he drew almost all the way out, before slamming back into me and forcing his knot deep inside me. My body locked around him as I screamed soundlessly, my mouth hanging open, as my body became swept up in a wave of light and heat that traveled all the way out to my fingers and toes before running back down to coil tightly in my core.
Sam ground so hard against my clit we almost felt fused together. He suddenly released his hold on my hair and I threw my head forward, biting into his neck on instinct as the world exploded and my body convulsed almost violently.
A flash of pain at my neck was quickly overtaken by wave after wave of bright pleasure so intense I felt my eyes roll back into my head and I almost passed out. I held on, though, clamping my teeth onto his neck as I sucked at his skin with my lips and tongue. Sam pulled his head away from my neck and I could feel his intense awe and satisfaction through the new bond that was lighting me up inside. I felt contentment coming from Dio and Pala too, as our pack bonds strengthened. They also felt supremely satisfied with themselves. After being fractured for so long, the guys’ bond to each other was almost as strong as the bond to me now.
I opened my eyes, not even realizing I had closed them, to see Dio and Pala both lifting their heads from Sam’s shoulders, huge grins on their faces. Sam had three new, perfect bite marks on his skin, and tiny trickles of blood running down his chest. We hadn’t been gentle this time, but Sam didn’t look like he minded. He was smiling at me with a soft possessiveness that made my heart beat trip over itself.
I pushed at the guys gently until I could free my arms. Then grabbed as much skin as I could and dragged them back into me in a giant hug. We were squished so tightly together I couldn’t tell our limbs apart.
We stood together, sharing space, until our breathing calmed. It was almost perfect, if not for a dark space in my chest that felt hollow. It was almost overshadowed by all the brightness that had sprung to life inside me with three glowing bonds, but it was there, and it troubled me. I looked around at the guys, but the darkness didn’t seem to come from them.
“Where’s Dave?” I asked, my voice feeling suddenly rough, as though I’d actually been screaming.
“Guarding the entrance,” Pala replied. I nodded, feeling a spike of longing that had Pala stroking my hair. Dave was always hovering on the outside, watching over everyone.
I smiled suddenly, almost shyly, though, as I caught Sam’s gaze. His pupils were still blown wide, but he seemed lighter and accepting in a way I’d never felt from him before.
“Lexie,” Sam breathed out with reverence. Wonder and tenderness dripped from my name like raindrops. The intensity of everything we had just shared was still shining in his eyes.
“Mine,” I said to him, gently, as I ran my hands through his golden hair before I caressed his face lightly. I felt sated and cared for, knotted and wrapped up in his arms, finally. I’d wanted this dark, dangerous alpha who looked like an angel since the moment I’d laid eyes on him. He’d both excited and angered me, sometimes at the same time. But he’d always made me feel. Now he was mine to touch whenever I wanted.
We needed no more words. Sam’s face broke out into a grin that felt like warmth washing over me. His smiles were so rare, it was like seeing a wild horse flash past in the forest. You knew you’d just glimpsed something pure and untamed.
His gaze darkened momentarily and his arms tightened around me as he asked roughly, “Did I hurt you?”
I laughed breathlessly, and Sam relaxed slightly. “Not even a little.”
Sure. I was slightly sore, but in a deliciously tingly way. It was nothing a good night’s sleep wouldn’t fix. Or maybe a hot bath.
I glanced off to the side of our snugglefest and squinted into the inky depths of the cave. That dark hole was pulling at me, and I felt a restless energy suddenly swirling within me, throwing me off balance. Pala was in my peripheral vision and I could see him looking at me with concern.
“Do you think you can shuffle about twenty or thirty meters while holding me, Sam?” We were locked together on his knot.
Sam pulled his head back and his eyes widened, as though he felt seriously offended. “Point me where you want to go.”
I waved my arm around in the general direction I wanted, and he stepped away from the wall with a definite swagger as Dio and Pala stepped back. Dio flashed me a cheeky grin while Pala gave me a soft smile.
“Dio, feel along the wall just there. There should be a little box, about half the size of your hand, with a switch.”
As Dio veered away, Sam strode confidently into the darkness around a slight bend in the cave entrance, while carrying me easily. He seemed to have complete trust that I wouldn’t lead him astray.
“Stop,” I told Sam quickly, operating on memory alone. Pala was hovering at our side in the darkness, waiting to grab me if Sam should stumble.
“What’s that mineral smell?” Sam asked as he sniffed the air.
“Got it,” Dio called out from behind us as a clicking noise echoed in the cave and a criss-crossing net of fairy lights popped into existence over our heads.
“Wow,” Pala said, but he was looking down instead of up. Sam followed his gaze back down and inhaled sharply.
“Is that a hot spring?” Dio asked as he loped up to us around the bend.
“Yep, there’s another bigger one outside, but not many people know about this one.”
My back was feeling sticky, maybe from sweat, I wasn’t sure, but a soak sounded heavenly right now. It would be cozy, but we would all fit. The hot spring had steep edges and was only about two and a half meters wide, about the size of a decent hot tub. The water came up to my shoulders in the middle.
“Is it safe to get in?” Pala asked, excitement lighting up his features.
