“Shit, why does that turn me on?” Dio asked, looking confused with his hand stilled on his dick.

Lexie grinned like she knew a secret. “You seemed to love it when I called you a good boy the night we claimed each other, if I recall.”

“Oh fuck. Do I have a praise kink?”

“We can figure out all your kinks and your confused sexuality later. We’re really late now,” I said as I flicked water at Dio playfully. He turned and winked at me and I had to force my dick not to twitch, as I had a mental image of Lexie and Dio on their knees while Dave praised them both.

I turned away with a groan and finished washing myself down. It was kinda pointless, though. Lexie’s meringue spiced scent was so saturated in the semi-enclosed space, we were all going to be drenched in it even after we’d all cleaned up. The idea pleased me enormously.

Dave soaped Lexie down and cleaned her thoroughly, kissing her lightly as he went. I watched Sam smile at them before a lost expression crossed his face. He wrapped a towel around his lean waist and wandered off to get dressed. It made me happy to see how content he looked now. I hated seeing his distress the night I’d gotten home. Yet, there was still something bothering him.

Home. The thought filled me with joy. It had been such a long time since I’d thought of any place as home. I realized home was these people as much as it was this place. I followed Sam up to the loft, catching him from behind as he pulled up his pants and gave him a squeezy hug.

He seemed surprised, but he reached up and gripped my arms tightly. “What’s this for?”

“Do I need a reason?”

“Absolutely not.”

I smiled as I leaned on his shoulder, just enjoying being able to hug someone whenever I wanted and hoping to give him some comfort through whatever was bothering him. I sensed it wasn’t us, and he would tell us when he was ready. Until then, I’d be here for him. He relaxed against me and we both watched birds flit past the big triangular picture window at the end of the loft for a moment.

We shifted as the others all trooped up the stairs to let them pass. Nobody commented on the way we were standing, they just maneuvered around us. Dave started rifling through clothes on the floor while Dio started snooping through an old trunk in the corner.

Lexie’s and Dave’s clothes were strewn around the loft now, but Sam, Pala, and I didn’t have a lot of clothing options. We’d only brought a few items with us in our bug out packs. Dave and Maia’s mates had all donated some clothes, but it was still slim pickings. We’d have to do a supply run for things like clothes soon, and maybe start a communal clothing pool for extras. The kids and teenagers would benefit from that, with how quickly they grew out of clothes. I’d worn a lot of my cousins’ hand-me-downs as a kid.

“Hey, what are these?” Dio asked, holding up a bundle of photos from the trunk he was rummaging through. “Dave, I think you have a stalker.”

“Shit, Dio. No.” Lexie yelled, and tried to snatch the photos from him. He held them up high, laughing while Lexie tried to jump for them. Dave straightened up and grabbed them from behind Dio.

“Did you take all these, baby girl?” Dave asked Lexie as he rifled through the stack. I caught a glimpse, and they all seemed to be zoomed in shots of Dave. Lexie had her hands over her face and her cheeks were bright red.

“You weren’t ever supposed to see those,” she mumbled. “Are you mad?”

“Not even a little,” Dave said as he pulled her into a hug. “Considering I was following you without your permission the whole time.”

I smiled as Dave moved Lexie’s hands away from her face and kissed her sweetly.

“Ugh,” Dio said dramatically, as he turned back to looking for clothes. “I can’t tell if you guys are sweet as shit or poster children for a red flag relationship.”

Dave let Lexie go so he could pick up a pillow and throw it at Dio.

“We need to cut some wood and build some dressers,” I said as I watched everyone rummaging for clothes before I released Sam so he could finish dressing too.

“You know how to build a dresser? That would be awesome,” Lexie said, as she shot me a grateful smile.

“Yeah, my family built most of our furniture. My dad showed me how to make the drawers slide properly without metal runners as soon as I was old enough to hold a hammer.”

“It’ll be a solid skill to pass onto our kids,” Sam said casually, as he bent over to grab a shirt from a bug-out pack on the floor.

“If you all throw your dirty stuff into the corner, I’ll take it and do a couple of loads of laundry today,” Dave said, gesturing to the far corner. “I’ll see if I can find us something to use as a washing hamper, too.”

I eyed Lexie, who had gone perfectly still, holding a skirt in front of her as if she’d been about to put it on but was now frozen in place. “You okay, my heart?”

Dio looked up from where he was crouched near her feet, springing up to put his arms around her. “Hey, what’s going on?”

“Uh, you guys just said kids.”

“Yeah.” Dio looked confused.
