“We know nobody is hurting anyone here, except maybe a few sneaky kicks for the dickwad alphas behind us. Okay. We got this, Max. Go.”

I was the one breathing hard now, but Dio’s hand on my chest calmed me down. Somewhat.

Maia swung herself around in Damon’s arms to wrap her legs around him and started grinding against him wantonly, just as her syrupy orange and pineapple scent exploded and flooded the area in a wave of pure lust. Every alpha in the area went on high alert and spun their heads toward her so quickly that I heard a few necks crack.

Fuck. We were out of time.

“Move, now,” Damon yelled to his guys and took off.

I grabbed the nearest alpha and punched him hard to put him back down as he tried to rise and follow. Still, I only had two hands, and we had a dozen restrained enemy alphas.

“Grab a gun. Point and shoot if anyone moves,” I yelled to anyone who would listen. No way was I letting any of these assholes hurt my sister. They would die before they got close enough to breathe near her.

I heard the male omega respond, “With pleasure.”

My attention was caught by Lexie, though, as she screamed, “Take that, fuckers.”

I spun to see what in the hell my firecracker was up to.

Therewasamomentof stillness as every head swiveled towards Maia, when her amped-up heat scent detonated and flooded the area. The instant Damon took off though, every damn hog-tied alpha in the area started struggling to free themselves.

They all groaned, almost in unison, with their pupils dilated and pained, hungry looks on their faces.

Not to mention they were all sporting huge, almost comical, hard-ons. I struggled not to giggle like a schoolgirl at the insanity of the moment. It almost looked like a scene from a raunchy comic strip.

The alphas were quickly cycling into a frenzy, though, while struggling to get to their feet. Even Cary looked pained by Maia’s scent. I knew I had to think fast.

The new guy, who seemed to be Maia’s long-lost brother Sam, if I’d heard right, had yelled to grab a gun, while venting his anger on the nearest alpha. Cary seemed all too happy to comply. Alphas didn’t always rely on weapons. They didn’t need them in close combat when they could bark someone into submission or overpower them with their strength. Cary managed to find one, though. These guys had come prepared for everything, except Damon, apparently.

A gun was an excellent backup plan because I knew Cary wouldn’t be able to pin an alpha down right now. He was already injured. Yet, I didn’t think threatening to shoot would be enough to calm these fuckers down. There were too many of them. I didn’t want to maim or kill a bunch of alphas just because they were horny idiots all juiced up on Maia’s scent.

I turned desperately to see what else we had at hand and spotted the oak barrel by the back door of the kitchen. We set it up under a spout coming out of the wall, and all our dirty dish water emptied into it. We used organic, biodegradable detergent so we could reuse the water in the kitchen garden.

Perfect. I dashed over, grabbed a bucket, then hauled ass to the nearest alphas.

“Take that, fuckers,” I yelled, venting my rage at these overbearing assholes who thought they could break in here and hurt my friends.

I hurled it at them, hoping the funky smelling water would clear their senses a little. The rank water caught the closest one smack in the face. He looked at me, stupefied, but he’d stopped struggling with his restraints. He had a piece of potato skin stuck to his nose. I almost laughed again. Not the time, Lexie.

Nick took one look at what I was doing and headed for the hose to follow my lead. He was young and quiet, but he was a smart guy. He turned the hose on as high as it could go and started blasting alphas in the face with water. It worked. They were sputtering and choking too much to struggle.

Ava grabbed another bucket and started hurling dirty water at alphas, too, watched over by Cary with his gun. While Sirena headed for the compost pile nearby, grabbed a bucket load and started smearing it on the faces of any alpha she could get near.

I dashed back to fill another bucket of water and turned to the next nearest alpha. He reared up onto his knees and lunged at me before I could get my bucket aimed. I recognized him.

It was the asshole alpha who had punched me. I remembered I had a date planned with his balls. So I kicked him hard. Right in the nuts.

“That’s for the concussion, asshole,” I yelled as I followed up with a bucket full of water in his face while his mouth was wide open on a pained gasp.

I felt a growl vibrate over my skin from behind me and I stepped to the side quickly as Sam lunged at him, grabbing him around the throat.

“You. Hit. Her,” He bit out, with his menacing growl still vibrating his already deep voice. “Now you die.”

Shit, I turned to his friend, the one who stopped Sam earlier when Max got up in his face. The gorgeous one with the dark, sun-kissed curls. But he was standing at Sam’s side, looking deadly calm as he watched his friend choke out the tied-up alpha.

Both of their scents had spiked aggressively, trying to out-do Maia’s lingering scent. Chilli and whiskey spearing through, what I figured were their natural, milder scents of buttered popcorn and leathery oak. Every other alpha in the area stilled like spooked prey.
